Throw everything out the window for this rivalry. Both teams will give it their all. If the UT team that played Nebraska shows up, it will be a close one.

If not, it could get ugly....

I agree, in this rivalry it is hard to use past performances. A&M has limped to the finish line before only to beat a much more talented UT squad.

A&M 35
UT 31

Game will be close because that is what happens in this game, strange things

Texas will lose when Greg Davis tries 4 straight WR screens with the ball at UT's 10 needing 90 yards to score with 2 mins left.

He will then be heard saying..well I really felt that one of our WRs could break 18 tackles with no blocking and take it at least 80 yards.

Mack Brown in the press conference will finally snap and beat Davis over the head screaming I NEVER WANT TO SEE A EAST-WEST Pass again

I think this is going to be a great game. This year, aTm is really on the rise and UT is not the NC caiber team it has been the last few seasons. This game will have all the emotion, crowd participation, feel, and hard playing of oldtime UT-aTm contests. I think the Ags are about 7pts better in this one going in, but as most know, all bets are off when these 2 meet in a season situation like this.

I predict that if A&M wins we will hear about how bad UT sucks, and if they lose we will hear about how they are having a better season than UT anyways.

If Texas wins or loses UT fans will still view the season as a disappointment, NC or bust for the Horns

vet93
11-24-2010, 07:32 PM
I think that this game will be close for a number of reasons:
1. Rivalry game
2. Texas still has the athletes to compete with anyone. They just need the right motivation...see #1
3. A&M is coming off of 3 consecutive games that were emotionally and physically draining.
4. The players and coaches at UT are highly motivated to salvage this season by beating an instate rival who has upset them on a few occassions.
5. Bowl eligibility is at stake for the longhorns
6. Its hard to think that overconfidence could be a problem for a team that was 3-3 at one time but after 5 consecutive wins, including a defeat of a long-time nemesis (Tech), a quality baylor team having the best season in 30 years and two top ten teams...it is possible that the aggies may be thinking that they have "arrived"...(Big Mistake).
7. A defense as good as Texas can keep you in many games regardless of the records of both squads.

Predictiion: A&M 30; Texas 27 in a game where the Aggies have to come back to win and where the outcome is in doubt until the last few seconds. Would not be surprised if the Aggies drop this one.

AUSTIN — Just like every other year, Texas A&M has a chance to ruin things for Texas.
The Aggies can spoil the Longhorns' Thanksgiving, cast a pall over their Christmas and send them somewhere they don't want to be for New Year's. With a victory tonight at Royal-Memorial Stadium, A&M can inflict misery on an arch rival, and for the Aggies, this is a familiar goal.

But this time, for a change, it is not their top objective.

“We're trying to do something for ourselves,” A&M coach Mike Sherman said.

I predict that if the guys from the school in Austin win, the Austin media will declare that Mack Brown is a football God again, the 'horns season was salvaged, and that the Ags program is in turmoil.

I predict that if the Ags win, all Austin news stations, by prior agreement, will lead off with news from Austin City Council and Leslie the transvestite's Thanksgiving vegetarian meal and limit total sports air time to less than 20 seconds during which they will declare the Ags program to be in turmoil in spite of a "less than impressive" win over the 'horns.

I would give anything for College Station or Houston news outlets in Giddings..........

You beat a 7 loss team by 7 points. Your best season in a LONG time is a possible tie for the big 12 south. No con. championship - no bcs bowl. But here is a pat on the back.

You have to walk before you run when you are rebuilding a program. Great win Ags. It wasn't pretty, but you did it on the road and that is what it takes to get the A&M football program back to national prominence. Texas will be back. That program can't possibly stoop lower than it did this year. It may not be a ten win season next year in Austin, but it won't end this bad.

we beat a rival in their stadium...a rival that year in year out has the best recruits, the money and win 10 games a seasons.

last season what did you say after the scoring fest by both teams in college station? It took the a career performance by the winningest qb in program and ncaa history to beat an average team....oh yeah that would be the winningest qb in ncaa history that was what? 2-2 v. an instate rival.

I couldn't stand watching it so cut TV off at 9:30 p.m. when Horns were behind by 10

Guess I didn't miss much

A loss is a loss but Texas still leads the overtime series which is important to me. We'll re group in a couple of years and then it will be another 8 out of 10.

My Aggie boss hasn't spoke a word to me yet this morning.

Does Tannehill have one more year at A&M? With Manziel coming in, I wonder if he gets redshirted or if they put him on the field right away.

Both teams had their breaks (bogus PI call on A&M--- probably should've been offensive). Fact of the matter is... A&M made plays when the game was on the line and UT didn't. :)

Some kids just grow up wanting to be a Longhorn. I am a big Aggie fan, but I don't know too many kids that grew up wanting to be an Aggie. It may be different in areas away from College Station, but around here, seems like the kids want to be different. Texas is more progressive culturally and Austin has everything you could need, and A&M is conservative and has the military image above all else, and is in a smaller town with entertainment limited. Not really attractive to a lot of kids. It takes a trip to Kyle to open their eyes up to an Aggie life.
