New London West Rusk (11-0) vs. Arp (6-6), 6 p.m. Thursday, Longview

What would you think if YOUR team played a playoff game on Thanksgiving?

I'd like to here the logic behind this. It's not like they are 8 hours apart and the only stadium capable of holding this game was available on Thursday.

What stadium even wants to host games on Thanksgiving? You are forcing your stadium workers to be there too.

I think its awesome by that time everyone is looking for something to do anyway after eating.

It's not like the teams wouldn't be practicing on Thursday anyway..might as well play and get the jump on the opponent for next week

You sure aren't going to have your usual crowd. The diehards will still be there, but the more casual playoff fans and the surrounding town/county fans probably won't show up. And some of your diehards may be out of town or celebrating with family even. I would really hate it.

I dont know..Celina used to play on Turkey day and the stands were always PACKED with a bunch of third party fans who just wanted to see a good game

Celina played Goldthwaite in Weatherford on T-Day 2000 and Hamilton at Cedar Hill in 2001. They might've in years before that, too.

They haven't done so since. Playing on T-Day was always a G.A. thing.

I'm telling you there will be a good crowd, people are always looking for something to do after dinner on Turkey Day

I think it is an awesome idea. Your supporters will be there, plus whoever else is ready to get out grandma's crowded house.

Most people would gladly change up their travel plans if it meant that their team was still playing in the third round of the playoffs...I know I would!

This year I would be most thankful.

Maybe Arp chose Longview at their homefield for a coin toss? It seems odd, but I have seen it happen a few other times. One time Sweetwater played Lubbock Cooper @ Abilene in the playoffs. Cooper had to go through Sweetwater, then travel an additional 45 miles east to get there.
