Not when he finds out Carthage had 500 yards and 42 points in the first half.
1st team D gave up 14 points on a team averaging 45 points a game. Rocket the speed from the East is still coming.

It will be in the Semi-Finals, but I was just messing with Rocket. Carthage has a real test next week against Dallas Madison.
Carthage had a very tuff district, all three teams still in it. Carthage, Henderson and Gilmer. Carthage and Henderson won tonight and Gilmer plays tomorrow.

Didn't get to make the game because my baby daughter got sick late in the afternoon, but I caught it on the radio.

Really was impressed by the effort Bridgeport put up. Even when we kept pulling ahead by 30 they never quit and fought for every point they got, and kept scoring throughout the game. Outstanding group of players with a lot of heart.

Congrats to the Bulls on a great year! Your RB was very quick and the QB was a player! Your O line and D lines did a very good job as well. It was a well played game by both teams. I got home a little while ago after survivivng the coulple thousand vehilce traffic jam in Dublin Texas. Very good game. My hat is off to the Bulls, your kids played lights out tonight. They left it all on the field and you could not ask for anything more. Probably the best offense we have seen this year. I am not sold on "our defense is small though" becaue there are some hosses on the defense. Congrats to the Bulls on a good season.

Yes there was a meet n greet on track south end. I hate that you had to deal with some obnoxious kids.

Your right kids will be kids. Heck the parents may have knew they would act that way and sent them to play somewhere instead of beside them. :D

By the way: I know where both of my kids were the whole time. One was in the band and one was with me. :D

Hats off to Bridgeport. Some very talented players, and OMG, that #3 had some speed. Well that's to be expected. BP is in "East Tx". And how about that 88--tall receiver, and the QB was very good.

I feel lucky to be done with that game. Thought it was our tuffest opponent this year.

Just got home at 1:20. Not bad for 160 mi. I was through Dublin in about 2 min. You guys who got stuck at Dublin need to quit being sheep. Only 1 block off the main drag is a street that goes through and you don't get stuck at that light that has no cross traffic but you have to sit there for 20 min anyhow. Well try that the next time you to to S-ville and there is going to be a lot of traffic. It's to the south/east side of 377.

M&G was fun. Glad to meet you all and good to see the ones again from the last M&G.

The 2nd fumble happened right in front of me. Graylon striped the ball back from the lineman instead of tackling him. Graylon had the ball in his chest before either of them hit the ground and the ball never touched the turf.

Congrats. to Bridgeport on fireing off till the last play. Anymore scoreing and and I would be deaf since both schools brought Train horns. I thought Tarlton stadium would be big enough for that game but at the 15 minute mark before the game the PA announcer advised that the Brownwood side was full and they were going to standing room only. I figured then since there was still room on Bridgeports side that over flow would go there. I'm sorry for any fans that acted a fool but like inlaws we all got some.
At least next week I won't have to spend 30 minutes with a few thousand of my favorite fans in Dublin Texas. ;)

Brownwood definitely showed why they are the #1 3A team again last night. They've definitely got it all, power, speed, and execution. The Bulls slowed the Lion passing game down some, but not enough, and the Lion running game gashed the Bulls all night.

The Bulls hit some big pass plays and drove the ball on Brownwood pretty well on several possessions, broke a decent run here and there, but failed to score in the red zone on too many occasions, plus they dropped about 5 passes. The Bull "D" just couldn't cover all the Lion weapons on too many of their possessions. I was pleased that the Bulls were able to score 31 on the Lions.

Congratulations to the Brownwood Lions for their 12th win, you are 1 super football team, and I wish you the best in the playoffs. The Brownwood crowd is large and loud and will be a real plus to the Lions as they pursue that 8th SC. It was a real pleasure watching the Lions play, even though the Bulls lost.

I really enjoyed meeting all the Brownwood posters at the M&G---you are all some good folks and good sports. I even got to shake hands with Emerson1 and Jason, and of course got to meet the famous Rocket, who is even uglier in person than in his pictures, but absolutely nothing like his board personna. :D

Thank you for the compliments. You are a classy poster that represents a classy program. I will be the first to say that I am glad that we don't have to play you guys again. I do hope that your boys keep their heads high and that you have speedy recoveries with your injuries.

As for you assessment of BWD....you have to be careful of what you say, though.

You mentioned the "S" word a few times...and we all know that there is no speed in our part of Texas....only in the East.....If Cowboy reads your post....he will more than likely put you on his list that starts wiith "S".:D :D

There was apparently a really ugly situation with some Brownwood kids in the Bridgeport fans, which you all have heard about. But let me tell you that the two gentlemen from Brownwood sitting behind us were a HOOT, and I really enjoyed visiting with them. So please don't let a few smart aleck kids set the tone for what happened. Every town has smart aleck kids.

And let me also say that the Brownwood/Bridgeport fans were by far not the only people in the stands. I saw a ton of different schools there, including quite a few I'd never even heard of.

As to the game, I'd give props to both teams. Brownwood is as advertised--they really are THAT good. We've all heard about Brown and Shipley, but dang...Ratliff is as big a game-changer as anyone else on the field. The three of them together operate as a well-oiled machine. It was a high school version of Troy/Emmitt/Michael, and it was fun to watch--or it would have been if they hadn't been playing my Bulls. ;) And their defense is a textbook example of bend-but-don't-break.

And the Bulls don't have anything to hang their heads about this morning, either. They left it all out on the field, and they never ever gave up no matter what the score looked like. I saw some BEAUTIFUL passes last night, and Gabe Huerta was his usual awesome self. He squirts out of coverage somehow and makes the yards, and I can't wait to see him next year--and the year after that. That first touchdown pass to Garrett Mullins, Trent Schuett's and Jace Hudson's amazing work on both sides of the ball, Matt Minix making yardage out of nothing, Cody Henson's arm AND feet--this Bulls team played lights out, and it was a pretty darned good end to the season.

Oh, Brady Boyd (our safety) broke his lower arm, both bones. After a trip to the hospital to have it set, he was back on the field for the end of the game. Now THAT is character. (I don't mind admitting I'd be heading home after that, hopefully after a goodly dose of pain meds. lol)

ETA: I am so sorry to have missed the M&G! I somehow missed the set-up for that. I couldn't get the 3ADL up on my phone on the way there, and I didn't try during the game. I've had no luck with M&Gs this year--the two I DID show up for, no one else did but fellow Bulls fans. Which I suppose isn't a bad thing. ;)

Also, I am going to take it as a BIG compliment to our Bulls that Shipley didn't pull his starters until the last series of the game, since I understand he normally does it much earlier. :) :)

You didn't ask me, but thought I would give my 2 cents. I think you will basically have to score almost every time you get the ball to beat them, or you better have a defense that is all around very solid.

My fav play:

Graylon fumbles the ball; it is picked up by BP player who heads toward his goal. Graylon turns and is after him in a heart beat and what looked like in one motion, tackles him, takes the ball away and now it is Bwood 1st down, instead of BP 6 pts!!

I will put it this way.
Look what the bulls did to us and then now what the lions did to the bulls.
Bridgeport in my opinion is top ten talent in the state,at least offensively, and they couldnt match em point for point so I have to say that there is no team on paper that can beat them. but the games wouldnt be fun if we already knew who was gonna win.
I will have to admit i think the bulls might keep it close enough to really scare the lions a bit. Until the pick 6 Longoria had that was a 14 point swing and seemed to take the wind out of the sails. However the bulls didnt give up they kept on fighting.
I am cautiously awaiting next years opening game in Bridgeport for us. Looks like yall might be the team to beat.
Good luck

No disrespect to Bridgeport but Brownwood was very very sloppy. Turnovers, botched plays, a pick six dropped by a defender. We were not playing poorly but we were not "on."

To beat Brownwood it will take a dline that can be in graylons face and make him turn it over. You will also have to score over 40 points.

Congrats to my Lions!!! Bridgeport deserves HUGE props for the awesome team they have. I was very impressed as expected of the caliber of team I watched last night. They gave their best effort and played with class in which is a huge reflection of coaches, fans, parents, and community!!! Do not hang your heads Bridgeport, you guys have great team and will be very food again next year! #3 Huerta was flat out fantastic and fun to watch! Kid coupe have taken it for 6 on any given play. The QB #15 was a gamer. Tried to force a few, in which I figured he would have 2-3 INT's, but he was GOOD. Great job Bridgeport.

I really hate that I missed the M&G. Just couldn't make it over there. Bull's fans are some of the classiest and I really enjoyed this past week goin at it a bit! Good luck to you guys next year! The Bull's will be awesome!

Man, what a game. The BWD Lions were all they were advertised to be. They have speed in their backs on both sides. Definitely the most skill I have seen in "skill positions" on a team in a long time.

It was hard to watch Shipley and not be just downright impressed. The kid is a Stud, no doubt. I am going to really enjoy watching him in Burnt Orange for several years!

I thought the game was played hard from opening kickoff to the last tick of the clock. I thought the officiating was very good.

I looked for everyone for the meet and greet at half in the South End... finally gave up and hit the RR. Sorry that I missed a bunch of ya. I would really have liked to put a few more names with faces.

BullsFan was correct about the few BWD fans we sat by. Very nice folks and certainly overshadowed any negative things you may have heard. BWD fans are a class act and travel great.

Re: the Bulls... a great year and I was very proud for fighting until the very end... just as it should be. Very sad for Brady Boyd on his arm... hope it mends well, young man. Overall, it was one of our best efforts of the year. A few too many key mistakes and a team like BWD just will pounce on every single one and make you pay. But very happy with effort the Bulls made.

Good luck on your playoff run, BWD. The games will get tougher down the road, but I think BWD will make a great run.

As a matter of fact, I was happy that Ol Bob left in the first team until 4 mins left. It meant he respected the Bulls enough to keep it up. And if you go down fighting, then do so against the best the other team had.

For the posters that are picking their favorite play, instead of the obvious ones named I think the last or next to last play before the half when we finally got a good hard hit on the QB right as he threw the ball...and then two Lions lit up the recevier hard just as the ball got to him made a big statement going in at half to both teams.

Best all around team we have played this year for me...and a fun game to watch compared to a past game we shall not talk about.

Best all around team we have played this year for me...and a fun game to watch compared to a past game we shall not talk about. That play was awesome as well and after the pick six, it was a great way to go to the lockerroom for the lions

Great game by both teams last night! Bridgeport has class and players to be proud of, nothing in this loss to be disappointed about. I am sure with the returning starters next year, you will be a top 5 team! Good luck and may the injured heal fast!

All the crowing about Brownwood, what can I say! There has not been an equivalant team on the field in a long time, maybe Southlake Carroll with the Dodges, but this is one prolific scoring team. Not bragging, the Lions are good! Those that haven't seen the team just cannot understand, and that is their loss.

I would extend the olive branch to any Bull Fans to come out and join us in our quest for SC, it has been a fun ride to date!

How do you beat Brownwood, you gotta out score them! Period. One turnover and you wind up with a 14 point deficit.

The dangerous point made earlier in this thread, and I dont know that it is accurate, but sounds about right: "3:44 scoring drive, the longest for the Lions this season."

Kudos to Bridgeport Bulls for playing lights out, and congrats to the Lions for another impressive Victory. Borger next.

My favorite play was the long pass to Garrett Mullins in the first quarter where he reached out, the ball hit his fingertips and he pulled it in, held on, and scored us a quick 6 and our first score.

My fav plays were the 2 3rd Qtr TDs for Shipley with the double coverage. Perfect throws and catches...

It was a beautiful play but I have to admit, I did not like that one very much.. Keven said he stopped running becuae he thought the ball was overthrown... It was the perfect place for the ball to be

Yeah we were just walking around the track at that time and heard the rumble of the crowd and looked up in time to see it. Sweet Play!

I loved the first series for bports offense when they threw the pass out to the 4 wr bunch and we had about 8 guys on the tackle.

There were a couple turning points in this game. The first I thought was when the safety broke his arm. That took the crowd out of the game and boys seemed to get a little wind taken out of the sails..

The second was definatley the pick before half. If Bport converts that its 27-17 going into half and we have a game instead we have a 34-10 deficit and brownwood getting the ball first in second half. That definatley took the wind out of the sails. (3 straight plays with the QB rolling to the right??? ***) 3 drives in the red zone in the first half netting the Bulls -4 points will not beat brownwood.

The Bulls continued to battle in the second half and I would not expect anything less. Great season and look forward to the next.. Will Coach Henson be back?? Unanswered questions..

Can Brownwood be beat?? Sure its possible.. What will it take? I think it will take a team with a good running game. The one thing I thought Brownwood showed is they had some weaknesses on defense. If they face a good ball control running team that will slow the offensive machine. You wont stop Bwd offensively but you can play keep away.. Bridgeport played Liberty Hill in Waco a couple years ago and they did just that to the Bulls.. 8 - 10 minute drives.. It will be hard to score 60 in a game like that.. You just have to hope you score every possesion or score last... Only time will tell.. Good luck Brownwood!

Do you people realize we scored 61 points? 9 TD's? 9? LOL Brownwood is good enough on defense to get 4 stops a game. That is all they need. Can Brownwood be beat? Sure. But that team isn't in 3A. Sorry.

The reason Bridgeport did well is because they are the first pure spread team Brownwood has faced. This one dimensional running game stuff will be stopped. The spread opens up the defense and allows better running lanes. Brownwood's defense is good enough to get it done.

Oh, and Brownwood was a little off Friday night. Scary huh?

Awww- he just fills my heart with pride! I sit behind him during the home games and we make up our own cheers! You will never find a purer heart!

Way to go Lions and great game Bulls. So nice to see the boys helping each other up instead of what we dealt with last week. Lots of mutual respect on the field. So sorry to hear about the safety and his broken arm. Our #5 broke his and was back in a few weeks! Amazing what they can do these days!

On another note: Please know that not all of us are like Rocket! I read alot on this board but seldom post and I feel a lot of hate for Brownwood, not because of the way we play, or whatever, but because Rocket can be such a butthead! (I know him personally and he is a nice guy in person)
But I swear there is a GREMLIN in his keyboard and he becomes POSSESSED when he starts smacktalking about the LIONS!!!

Anyway- we are really excited here in BWD and are all enjoying the ride!
Happy Thanksgiving to all of the 3ADL families!

Et tu Cindie?

It's smack talk. Not a nice way to do it. There are haters of Brownwood for more reasons than me. Besides, it's all in fun. People are stupid if they judge a whole town by one obnoxious poster like me... ;)

There have been many successfull teams over the years. I cant think of one Celina,Gilmer or Wylie Poster who even comes close.

I agree -- that was a good one. I really enjoyed hearing everyone re-live their fav play. On everyone (except BP's input--haha--just kidding BP), I was Oh Yeah that was a good one. Let's do that again this week.

Haha...you have no earthly idea what you are talking about. As usual... All I do is tell the truth. Most people don't hate me. See the thread named Rocket??? ;) But you haters can hate me all day long... The truth is out there, and I just drop it on your forehead.
