I just got his YTD stats. If Brownwood submitted stats to Maxpreps he would have the 4th best passer rating in the nation

Graylon Brown 173 of 251 for 2,994 yards, 40 TDs, 3 INTs rating 143.8

Congrats!!!

Kid can definitely throw. I saw him hit Shipley Thurs night over the shoulder and in stride with a perfect pass that was about 60yd or so in the air. Unfortunately, I think his height might hurt any D1 chances, though.

So does that make him the best in Texas?

In passer rating yes he is. but....that manziel kid is something else. 69 TDs is tough to compare to.

Johnny Manziel, QB, Tivy (Kerrville, Texas)
Team record: 10-1
Last weekend: Tivy crushed Hays (Buda) 49-21 in Class 4A Division I playoff action to set up a highly-anticipated rematch with Lake Travis (Austin), who handed Manziel and the Antlers their only loss in September. The Texas A&M commitment accounted for all seven Tivy touchdowns against Buda, throwing for 251 yards and running for 140 more.

Season: Manziel is the high school game's version of Cameron Newton as far as statistical production goes, throwing for 3,209 yards and 41 touchdowns while running for 1,554 yards and 28 TDs.

There's no doubt that his height will deter the D-1 schools from coming after him (which is a shame, but that's the way it goes). We didn't know how good he could be because he missed almost the entire year last season.

I agree completely. Every team is 1 or 2 key injuries away from exiting the playoffs. It can all go bad quick when the injury bug hits.

Graylon is a student of the game when it comes to football. He understands so much of the how and why part of the game.

He also is a fine young man that comes from a good family.

He has a cannon for an arm. He through a ball to the endzone for a TD in Cowboys Stadium while standing on the star.

But 69 total touchdowns is stupid good.

I'm actually thinking I am going to make the game this week. It's friday at 7:30 at Tarleton correct? Or Stephenville high?

I'll be at the ranch hunting, and we're 10 miles south of Comanche. So the drive to Stephenville isn't too bad, if my dad wants to ride with me I'll be there.

Not even close. I watched that game at Tarleton and Decator wasn't even close to the team Brownwood has this year. Even Wylie hasn't ever had a team like this group of young men Brownwood is blessed with this year.

I think the point is that all it takes is one "off" game for the favorite, and a fired up opponent and suddenly you have an upset. I'm not sure you can judge the 2004 Decatur team based on that one game. Of course I like how that story ended....but just saying. Anything can happen....even to Brownwood. ;)

Brownwood isn't Decatur 2004. Apparently Decatur didn't have what it takes to handle bidness. Tine will tell if Brownwood does... I love our chances.

I can understand. Anything can happen on any given night. I'm a firm believer in that. Nothing is a given. After last weeks escapade, I'm sure there was a lot of emotion that carried over to this week. That sometimes can effect how a team performs the following week. But, I know this team has an amazing coaching staff and a very gifted and well grounded group of you men. I'm not trying to sound cocky, but the '04 Decatur team was in no way on the same level as 2010 Brownwood. Just saying. ;)

Brownwood isn't Decatur 2004. Apparently Decatur didn't have what it takes to handle bidness. Tine will tell if Brownwood does... I love our chances. I'll give you guys credit..you probably have a team that can blow right through to the state title without stumbling...just like 09 Gilmer. I've seen the 2010 Lions and 09 Gilmer in person....and if those two teams played I wouldn't bet any real money. If it was a 5 game series I would give the edge to BW winning 3 of those...but wouldn't be shocked if it happened the other way around. No matter how good you are, a really good team can be beaten by a so so team on any given night....I've been watching HS, college and NFL long enough that it would be crazy to believe otherwise.;)

That '04 Decatur team with Dane and Godbolbt was pretty good, and they didnt just have a passing game but they could run the ball at will also. I remember when they beat AW during the regular season and before they played AW again in the playoffs they were all talking big time crap about how they wouldnt even need to show up for an entire half to win. That was a heck of a team and unfortunately lost in the playoffs, so dont give Bwood the Title just yet. Though, Bwood's chances are pretty damn good. I saw Brown when we played them in the championship round of 7 on 7 this past summer and yes his size isnt college standard but he can throw with precision and accuracy. GO oYe

Again I ask, aren't G Brown and Colt McCoy about the same height?
I know when McCoy was in high school he wasn't that tall. I know he put on size in College, but not much height.

Another brownwood thread? Yes.

So basically... I was watching some shipley highlight videos and couldn't help but notice how much time the qb had to throw. How many times has brown been sacked? And can he run? Rushing yards?

And last but not least, has any team been able to put a decent amount of consistent pressure on brown?

Do not know the official stats, so far Brown hasn't been under very much pressure, yes he can run but doesn't have to very much. He was supposed to run on the relay team at state but was playing baseball and did not make it. The OC makes pretty quick adjustments so it is hard to have constant pressure without giving up something else.
