I wouldn't say that so fast. Lovejoy has a great team and it's their state championship to lose, but Abilene Wylie and Wimberley will both be tough in the state tournament. If Prosper is able to beat Lovejoy, which I doubt since LJoy handled them easily in district, then that might give Prosper the confidence they would need to take state, so I'll give you that.

Abilene Wylie vs Monahans today at noon for the Region I title....


Monahans knocked Wylie out of last year's playoffs, but when these two teams played earlier this season, Wylie came away with the victory. I think Monahans had some key players out with injuries at that time, but they are healthy now. (I think??)

Monahans has a long history of success in volleyball. Wylie, on the other hand, is fairly new to volleyball....this year's team is the first to go all the way through the volleyball program.

Wylie's 44-1 record is definitely impressive, but none of that matters today.

This should be a great match!!

SAN MARCOS — Wimberley's quest for a seventh state volleyball title in 11 years was thwarted on Friday by a Lucas Lovejoy team that wasn't ready to give its crown back.
Lucas Lovejoy fought off a resilient Wimberley squad in five games, emerging with a 23-25, 25-21, 25-15, 22-25, 15-5 victory. The Leopards rolled into San Marcos as the defending state champions.


They almost beat them last year.
