The vBulletin software has been purchased, and is currently undergoing "tweaking" to get it just right. We did run into one small snag. Everything imported just fine except for the Private Messages. Matt has vBulletin working on the problem. There's no telling how long this could take. We could go "hot" with the new software sooner, if the membership doesn't care about the importation of PM's. As an alternative, you could possibly save your PM's that you care about to a text file for backup, then we could go "hot" with the new stuff. It would definitely speed up the conversion. What do the rest of you think on this one?

Let's get the new software going and worry about PMs later.

Saving the PM's are no problem for me. Let's go live.

But I do hope we still have our "member numbers". It is a somewhat accurate clue as to who has been around the longest and been an active poster. I know some lost their low numbers because they did not post, but if they had posted, they would have still had their numbers.

Member number has a function in this software. It is used to perform a comprehensive search of old posts. vbulletin performs the same function using "user name". Your registration date will transfer and it uses day month and year instead of just month and year like this one, but I'm not sure about the member number. I haven't found any reference to it in the new software. I will check on it though. All "stats" will directly import.

Ok, member number can be utilized in vBulletin also. However, what will PROBABLY happen is each user will most likely get a LOWER member number than your current one because of the purges that have taken place. Administrator will most likely run one more purge before implementation to make the import easier. So, if you're member # 804 right now, you could go down to something like #680 for example.

Have you saved some of your pertinent pm's, 66?

I don't normally save them, but if they have info I need, I save to a text file.

not that my input matters, since im a 4Aer now..but i never seemed to save anything, if it was important, like an address or telephone # i would write it on a Post-It....
