I would of been happy for a coin toss for home but I have heard that play-off games must be played in divided stadiums. Does anybody know if this is true.

It's up to the coaches, I am told. Back in '04 we flipped and won our first round play off at home against La Vernia.

Llano coach probably didn't want to risk having to go to Wimberley and play with those homer referees!

Yeah those refs for Wimberley are worthless. It was their horrible calls that ended my senior year last year in the playoffs. They should be stripped of their ref license and banned from football forever.

Well if you were one of the refs for the Glen Rose vs. Wimberley game last year for Bi-District, then you sir are an embarassment to the UIL. :thmbdwn: :thmbdwn:

Well lets just say that Llano and Wimberley both have something in common and that is beating glen rose in bi-district with Llano winning in 08 and wimberley in 09. Now to this years playoff game I haven't seen wimberley play this year but they are always well coached and play hard and have quite a few good althletes. Llano has been a very streaky team this year with their offense hitting full stride last night with 369 yards passing and 334 rushing but they did give up 470 yards in a 51-49 win which they were down by 9 with 5 minutes to go in the game. Really this game I believe comes down to who wants the win more and I feel Llano is really hungry to pull off the upset of the undefeated Texans!!! GO JACKETS!!!!

Hunger only gets you so far.Just ask Boerne. The talent will be the deciding factor most of the time but if the Texans start out like they did at Boerne and Fredericksburg,Llano may have a chance.

That was Llano's second game of the year against bangs and it was their worst game they played all year. Llano has made tremendous improvements each week and they have fought really hard to achieve what they have so far.now its time to start the third season of year and Llano will be ready. A lot of posts want to focus on the injuries. Wimberley has dealt with this all year. How many teams would love to claim a 10-0 regular season in spite of having many of your key players out?. Let us look at some highlights. Cuero was ranked 4th in the state. They now are an undefeated district champ and are top 20. Sealy was ranked 3rd in the state. They have not lost since and are an undefeated district champ and are top 10. Navarro, just up from 2A, ranked in the top 25, and should have been much higher, will give Liberty Hill all they could want and then some. Let's take for instance Brownwood. What would happen if say Jaxon Shipley went down with an injury. Would the Brownwood faithful abandon ship and call it quits? I think not!! All I'm trying to say is that these kids from Wimberley have been through so much adversity and continue to succeed. I believe there is something special about this team. Just don't underestimate them. There is something to be said about heart!!

Thanks bwdlionfan. There is no doubt "The Brownwood Lions" are very good. I've appreciated the tradition for some time now. One of my childhood friends (from Ft Worth) moved away to Brownwood in the early 70's. I have not seen him since. I saw his name mentioned in Dave Campbell's magazine a few years later. I do know he had the honor of playing for the legendary Gordon Wood. I know my Texans believe the road to the championship will most likely go through Brownwood, a challenge they would most definitely accept should it come our way. I also know that there are an abundance of hungry teams out there just biting at the bit. 3A Football, you gotta love it!!

This game could be closer than people think, Llano and Wimberley have alot of history and are old district foes meeting for the first time in the playoffs. If we start the game flat like we have done in a few games this year we may be in trouble. Injuries are starting to take there toll on us, we get guys back and then lose others, its just been a rough year for us. As hard as it is to say we are starting to get the feeling that Brownwood had last year, lots of talent but cant healthy but we will have most these guys coming back next year. If we can get Smith back in the next week or so it will help but losing the two guys on D is huge because they were very key guys. I think we will pull out the W just because I still think we have alot of talent left on the team even with the injured guys out and I dont think Llano will be able to keep up with our scoring, close early and Wim pulls away in 2nd half. 42-24 Texans.

Obviously when we go down 21 points-to-NONE, we are struggling to get it together defensively, and we arent hitting it on all cylinders on offense. But then again, we shut them down and scored at will after that. This is all fine a dandy in district...but you get a few rounds deep in the play offs, and you will be disappointed with the results.

I believe Nelms will get this team's head into the games in the play offs. But add the injuries to it, and we haveone tall order ahead of us. I do believe all will be ok...but you have got to have a little bit of concern. I am sure the coaches have a bit of concern too.

Regarding Llano...you never know, they always play us tough, and they seem to find a way to beat us. However, I dont think this will be one of those times. I predict at least a 14 point victory.

He had pins put in his foot 5-6 weeks ago, and the boot was removed a little over a week ago. He is practicing and trying to get back in running shape now, I suspect he will be suited up for Llano, but I dont know if he will play. I think probably not. But if we win, we will face Cuero (assuming they win their first game too). We will need him desperately then.

Thanks R&W. We have just become so "unconcerned" about injuries because we have had so many. If we were "worry" about them, we would have popped a vein by now. I have totally lost track of who is injured when, and who replaced them andwho is injured now, and is the original player back, or is it the one who replaced the first injured player...or is it the guy who was injured in 7-on-7 who is back now, who is now a back up to his own starting position, which is filled by the back up who is now a starter because of injuries to the guy who was replacing the injured defensive end??? Get my drift??? LOLOL

We have to keep in mind that Wimberley scored 42 points to Boerne's 0 after several of our key players were injured. I liked the play of the backup middle linebacker, and we were rotating defensive ends throughout the year. We will be able to make adjustments. The key will be whether we can begin to reach the peak that is imperative to make a long run in the playoffs. We did last year and after a tough game with Brownwood (in which Brownwood beat Brownwood), we did not have the adrenalin and energy level needed to play Graham. We were physically spent. Hopefully that will not be the case this year. If we can continue to be as aggressive and physical as we have been most of the season I feel confident that Wimberley will be very successful. The first step is Friday against Llano. Adversity and disappointment are inevitable; discouragement is a choice. Regardless of who is in the game they will be ready to give it their all and should the outcome not be to our liking, we will not look for ROCKET type excuses. We will continue to stand tall and be proud of their accomplishments. 100% every play from start to finish. GO TEXANS!!!!!

I think I can better get my view across this way....if Wimberley is hitting on all cylinders (like they have NOT in the last several games) Llano doesn't have a prayer in this one, no matter how well Llano plays. However, since we have been struggling to put together 4 solid quarters, we are vunerable (lets not even talk about the injuries). But even in the case of us stumbling, it will take Llano to play their best game of the season. I hope that clears up any confusion. LOL

If you would have asked me Monday what my score prediction was for this game I would have said Wimberley 38-14. Now with all that has happened this week in Wimberley Im going to say I think this game will play a little closer. This team has shown pretty good focus and determination this year, but off the field incidents like this are a major distraction to any football team.

New Prediction: Wimberley sputters out of the gate but claws their way back in the 2nd half to win 28-21. Some may disagree, but I just don't like the feeling of this game - especially now with the distractions. I know Llano will throw everything they have at us and come ready to play.

Watch out, Llano will fight to the bitter end, you know that. They may not be great but are good. Llano has a crew that if they do have a great game could beat about anyone.... not week in and out but if they rise above it....you could be in trouble.

Yes, I do know that. We cannot take them lightly. All we have to do it play our game and execute, and we will roll them over. If we play like we have recently (allowing "lesser talented" teams to hang around), we could find ourselves in trouble.

Llano has been good at times offensively but has yet to put up more than 2 qtrs at that level a game. Def they are just as sporadic, great game 1 week, disaster the next. To have a chance against Wimberley they will have to put it all together both sides of the ball for all 48 min. Don't know that it will happen but it might.

This is exactly why I think we might struggle this week. I think it would be naive to say that incident this week will have no effect on the team mentally. These are 16-17 year old kids we are talking about here. Im not saying this will cost us the game by any means.

From what I've heard, the events of this week might be a relief to the team.

Yeah, they lost a big-time talent, but they also lost a lot of problems and friction from the team.

I'm not saying they're a better team now. Just saying that I don't think this will have an adverse effect on their attitude.

Your right about that. Blakemore did end our season, but it was clear he stepped out of bounds on our sideline. Even after the game the coaches from Wimberley admitted that he did step out. Two of the coaches from Wimberley, Nelms and Warren, are ex-glen rose coaches. They came over and told our coaches that it was clear he stepped out. Ref was right there, didn't make the call. I will say if other plays went different ways the outcome would have been different. To have your football career end as a senior with the opposing team stepping out of bounds and scoring to win the game.....not a fun final chapter of high school football. :dispntd:

GR Tiger_14, I can't dispute what you are saying and from experience, I can say I feel your pain!! I was only a spectator for this game. My question is how could the Wimberley coaches see the sidelines from the other side of the field. Was there video replay from the pressbox? If I recall, this was a shootout and there were so many calls (and non calls) that went against both sides. It was a hell of a game. I know this is not going to make a difference in your perspectiive on that game. I hope this does not haunt you for the rest of your life. Be strong son.

Yeah, they lost a big-time talent, but they also lost a lot of problems and friction from the team.

I'm not saying they're a better team now. Just saying that I don't think this will have an adverse effect on their attitude.

Well if thats the case then maybe this was a blessing in disguise.

Please, just keep your eyes and ears open. Things happen way too fast to keep up. I'm sure this will all come to light soon enough. Im sorry, not trying to be rude or sarcastic.

Only one player from Wimberley is committed to A&M ... not hard to figure out who it is

The play is right at the start of this clip. It's obviously *NOT* clear, but it is obvious that GR's defense did a horrible job of tackling, so I don't know why you'd resort to blaming the officials:

That was a great hold by Wimberley's LG, though. :D

Can we move on from this lbjacj. There is a game to be played. If you were truly a Texan supporter, then it's time to move on. That is what this thread is about!! The Texans playing Llano tomorrow night.

Just my two cents: I know for sure he did not step out and you can take it to the bank.

Just a follow up lbjacj. I would like to apologize for my earlier comment. I know it looked to be a little harsh. I have some confirmed news on the incident, which contradicts some of the comments that have been made on this forum. I have chosen to remain silent on the issue. I can't expect everyone to share in my way of thinking nor should they. Hope you're able to go to the game tonight and help cheer on the Texans. Take care.

Seems like this whole thing could have been handled a little better. People like to know what's going on, but at what price? As the news spilled out, people took it and ran with it and that angered some. Everybody has their opinion, but everyone has feelings too. I hope the Wimberely faithful can put this all behind them. :)

Not aware of any local broadcasts. Never understood it either. I'll get back to you if I find out someone in the central Texas area is carrying it online or over the airwaves.

Yall would have had 4th down on the 17ish. and one of the best kickers in 3A from what I understood. there were two things that cost us that game the last offensive series. Multiple questionable penalties and then not tackling blakemore in bounds on that last play. So no matter what the refs did or didnt do. we didnt take care of business. So yeah its tough to take but it happens. Good Luck To Wimberly
