LH and Navarro come into the playoffs with an 8-2 record.

LH is the Champs of 25AAA while Navarrow comes in 2nd behind Wimberley in District 26AAA.

LH's 2 losses come at the hands of China Spring 23-20 and Mexia 27-20.

Navarro's 2 losses were delivered by Lexington 41-14 and Wimberley 42-28.

I'm excited to see 2 of the bettest versions of the slot-t go head to head.

I'm going with LH in this one. Our D is playing lights out right now.

This is my first post and hopefully the first of many here. What a great site. I love 3A high school football. Something sacred and special about it. Nice to share thoughts with people who share the same passion.

I give Navarro the edge because they can pass the ball with skill at any time. I love the underdog but also stick with this team because they are representing our district. It's a pride thing.

Navarro will be no push over. They have excellent talent, good size and play with real passion and determination. They have a very effective passing game that could be the difference in the outcome of this game. Looks like Liberty Hill is playing excellent defense but offensively not quite as effective as some of the offenses of years past. This will be a great game. Navarro is an interesting team in that they run the slot T fairly well but mix in a lot of trick plays and just enough passes to keep the defense guessing. They also very rarely punt and will go for it on 4th down as long as they are within 5 yards of getting the first down. Navarro will take this one on a hook and lateral in the final 3 minutes.

Trick plays give < average defenses trouble.

LH doesn't have a < average defense. LH has a very good defense.

The slot is boring when it doesnt work...just like passing the ball unsuccessfully over and over is awfully boring. But when the slot is run well with the right talent...its a beautiful thing to watch.

Field position is something that gives LH an advantage. And yes, Navarro will go for it on 4th in their own territory, run trick plays and also kick on-side kicks in the 1st quarter. The problem as I see it is this...LH's defense seems to be pretty tough this year. You go and give up field position to them, they will wind the clock down on you and choke you out with field position. LH wins this game going away.

Navarro ran the hook-and-ladder twice against Wimberley, so yeah, they're not afraid of trick plays.

They also pass more out of the Slot than LH, and their pitch play is normal, not that 2-hand chest pass thing that LH does to get the RB really wide.

Navarro's biggest problem is that their D-line will get pushed backwards, and that's why they'll lose this game.

What is a hook and ladder?

Dont you mean a hook and lateral?

both are accepted according to this.. or are they 2 different plays? All in the interpretation.....

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The hook and lateral or hook and ladder is a trick play in American or Canadian football. It starts with the hook, which is where a wide receiver runs a predetermined distance, usually 10 yards down the field, and along the sideline, and "hooks in" towards the center of the field to receive a forward pass from the quarterback. Another offensive player (usually another wide receiver) times a run so that he is at full speed, just behind the player with the ball at the time of the catch. As the defenders close in on the stationary ball carrier, he laterals or hands the ball to the teammate running at full speed in the opposite direction of the original receiver.

If unanticipated, this play puts defenders out of position, running in the wrong direction. If the second receiver catches the lateral in stride, he can be long gone before defenders can react. However, the offense runs a high risk of turning the ball over if it is not handled properly because, unlike a forward pass, a dropped lateral pass results in a live ball.

Navarro played a good game. They moved the ball consistantly. The lh d made enough plays to take the game but the offense didn't finish it off. Good luck panthers

I left early yesterday morning to head to the State Cross Country meet (congrats to LH's Junior Susie Kemper for taking 2nd and the LH Boys' team for 7th place!), then was in San Antonio the rest of the day.

Congratulations to Navarro on the win. It was an exciting game to watch and while I would have preferred the score be reversed, that's the way the ball bounces sometimes. I wish you the best of luck next week, and beyond.

To MY Panthers: I am so proud of you as a team for your accomplishments this season! Many, including a lot of your hometown fans, didn't expect much better than last season. I knew you were better than that and so did you. Your dedication and hard work paid off week after week.

Seniors: I hope that you take the lessons you have learned in your years of being a "Panther" and apply them to the rest of your life. Life is about teamwork, hard work, dedication, and yes, failures. Failure and adversity is a given - how you handle them and what you learn from them is what helps determine your mettle and the type of man you will be.

To all returning Panthers: Take everything from this season - keep the positives and build on them; learn from the mistakes and then toss them from your memory. Next season starts NOW! Depend upon yourselves and each other. Prepare like the next game is your last game, because it may be.

I am and always will be one of your greatest fans!
