Im glad that mathis is now passing the ball!!! Thats going to really throw off the defense. We have to take care of the ball (no turnovers)!!! I was just told that Mathis had 5 fumbles including one inside the 5yd line!! Gotta hold on to the ball and do what we do best run the ball down the defenses throat!!!! I believe Mathis now have 3 running backs over 1,000yds rushing on the season not that passing game is starting to click!!!:clap: :clap: :clap: :clap:

I know they had three inside their own 20...maybe even the 10. It was hard to tell from where I was standing.

Its a longer drive for Mathis than Needville should have played here in victoria Friday but must have been booked up. Needville on the season averages less than 21 points. I seriously doubt they win by three scores. I seriously doubt they win. Sure, Mathis's schedule was soft prior to their three game stretch to close the season, but Needville didn't exactly impress either, especially with their loss to a 2A team that didn't even make the playoffs. The Mathis defense is overlooked too often. They had rough first halfs against Sinton and Ingleside, but held both teams to a total of one second half touchdown. I think they limit Needville to under two scores, and the offense will provide enough to win comfortably.

The train jerked upward as it derailed and went careening into innocent bystanders, who were just hoping to catch a few pieces of magic snow. People screamed as limbs and blood flew everywhere. Those who could get out of the way immediately ran for the exists. Emergency workers quickly rushed to the scene to help those trapped below the giant beer train.

"We are still trying to assess all the damage, but it's pretty bad in there," said one firefighter outside the stadium. "I've never seen anything like this. A magic beer train just coming off its invisible rails and injuring the very people it came to cool off and get drunk.

"I hope Congress looks at magic beer train regulations, because I for one have been saying their regulations are way too lax. These things can just appear anywhere, any time the Love Train song plays. Do they even card when making beers mystically appear in everyone's hands? I know there are kids in this stadium somewhere."

It's unknown at the time of this report exactly what led to the crash. The driver, a longtime Coors employee, is being questioned for whether or not he was drinking at the time of the wreck. He apparently yelled "tap the Rockies mothereffers!" out the window right before it all went bad.

I would have to say that I am a sexy man beast. All I keep hearing about Mathis is there offense. I seriously doubt that they have skill kids the same caliber of Columbia, Sealy, Sweeny, Columbus, Wharton for that matter. Needville will be ready to see skill kids. Needville will be ready for the slot t. Mathis needs to figure out how to start talking about their defense a little bit more. I keep hearing about Needville losing to a 2a Edna team. Edna is a darn good football team. They were ranking in the top 10 all year, and played there last game for the district championship. Unfortunatly for them it was a four way tie. If they would have won that game they would have been district Champions. Since they lost they staid at home. That is the way it goes. I cannot wait till Friday night to see how this plays out, Onside we will be at our usual spot to tailgate that we are at when Sam play TX State.

First play from scrimmage against Rockport was a ~30 yard pass play. The passing game has actually been there all year, but has just been used more recently against the better run defenses of the last three district opponents. The passes are going to the running backs coming out of the backfield, which cuts down on opponents trying to put 8 or 9 in the box. Not trying to step on toes or put words in your mouth. I guess my point is that fast or not, once the defense bites on the play-action, the runnings backs coming out of the backfield are usually wide open.

As for the predistrict schedule, it would have been nice to have better competition, but it is what it is. T-M is sort of an old rivalry, and they played in a very competitive 4A district this year. Bishop, well, there's no explaining that one, but Mathis demolished them as they should have. Kingsville is a 4A that is normally competitive, but they were awful this year under their new coach. Orange Grove is yet another rivalry game, and they always play Mathis tough. Zapata is consistently one of the better teams coming out of South Texas in 3A, and had earlier in the season beaten Ingleside, while Mathis traveled down to the border and delivered a pretty big beating.

Also keep in mind that Mathis is a pretty small 3A school, with enrollment at around 460 versus over 700 for Needville.

IH stang fan, I think that they are looking at something to talk mess about. I wouldn't put too much stock into it. Bottom line is our boys are peaking at the right time, and playing really good football right now.

I don't know much about the slot t, but I think there passing game is very similar to Needvilles in that they lull you to sleep with the run and then hit the big play action pass against you. I do know that they will line about 11 guys in between the hashes and wonder why people are putting 8-9-and 10 in the box. E Bernard runs a version or the exact offense.

Again our boys are playing well right now and will be very hard to beat. Look for it to be a quick game with limited posetions on both sides and the bottom line is the team with the best defense will come out on top of this one.

I think that the way Needville is playing right now, it will be hard for any team to beat them. They have some big offensive linemen that are truly mashing people, and the backs are very explosive through the hole.

We keep looking at offense to judge a team, but the winner of this game is going to be who can stop the other team. I know that Needville's Defense will be fired up, and will be able to come together as a unit and get those big stops that they need. Just like they did in overtime against Sweeny.

4.6 is probably more accurate for Butler and Washington, but be fair, all coaches fudge 40 numbers for publications. Its not like them being slightly slower than actually reported all of a sudden makes the other players faster. They're just up against 5.0 instead of 4.8 if you want to be nit-picky. To put it simply, if they get into the secondary, they're gone.

Don't think anyone in their right mind would claim to have 4.3 speed, much less apply it to a high school fullback. He's not the burner on the team, but he's quick through the hole and is into the secondary before you know it. And he does look fairly quick running away from those defenses.

Needville's coach doesn't advertise any stats, nor can you find any film on them on the net...and we've had some decent teams and RBs since I've lived here. Wilkerson was fairly big AND fast....NO video. I half wonder if he has some sorta "no video on the web" rule.

Every time I think of fudged stats I think of P.I. They seem to ALWAYS have some dude they claim runs 4.3 or 4.2 w/ a nickname like "Rocket" or "Nitro" or "Missile"

NO offense P.I. fans....but 4.2-4.3 is rare at the HS level...and I've seen some P.I. teams play...and I've NEVER seen that kinda speed on the field for the Tarpons. 4.5-4.6 MAYBE.

mathis has guys that can run, but needville has some guys that will straight run you over (44 38 7). if they want a smash mouth game, they are about to get one. and if defense is going to be the huge factor in the game i think needville takes the win in hard fought battle
