This is a good Joel McCrea western made in 1953 in beautiful color. It has a great plot and cast. It is 1hr20min long. It was a grade B western for its' time but it is a good one. It is about an area that is terrorized by outlaws. It will be shown on a Tuesday morning so if you can't watch it then set those recorders. You will be glad you did.
The cast consists of the following:
Joel McCrea as Zachary - a farmer and widower with a young son. McCrea made many good movies mostly westerns.
Barbara Hale as Sarah who is McCrea's love interest.
Alex Nicole plays the outlaw Jonah Varden. He was later to do a fantastic job in Dawn at Socorro.
Charles Drake plays Hadley who takes over the vigalantes after the local sheriff is killed by outlaws.
Jimmy Hart does a good job as McCrea's young son.
Frank Fergerson a great character actor plays a banker
James Arness plays Gus another outlaw. Two years later he started starring in the famous Gunsmoke series.
The movie was directed by George Sherman who directed many great movies and tv episodes including the great John Wayne movie Big Jake and of course the great western Dawn at Socorro.
Most of the movie takes place outside which is great because the outside scenery is beautiful with that color.
This is a very good movie. Don't miss it!
