View Full Version : Sinton/RF vs WC

Anybody know where it might be? Does it really depend on the opponent? You'd think it would still be the same location, regardless of who it is, right?

I know there are at least 4 WC coaches on here who can tell us the early possibilities.

If Sinton-WC play I see Victoria (neutral) or El Campo and Calallen/Cabiness as home/home.

Both Victoria teams are in the playoffs and the word is Memorial may be booked already. I think they are looking hard and can't find a stadium. ElCampo is Turf, but Port Lavaca is more of a Half Way point.

What does this West Comumbia team look like? They can score points for sure.

Great running game and a tough defense. Maybe a little weak in pass coverage but the run D is solid. We'll see how they adjust to Sinton's air attack.

Columbia has reeled of 9 straight wins since losing their opener. This team is capable of beating Sinton. Not saying they will.... but whoever wins this game will likely win the Region in D1 in my opinion (assuming Sinton is the opponent rather than RF)

You wont have time to throw it with 5 WR and 2 backs on the field. Assuming yall have a QB on the field, That leaves you with 3 people to block.

What yall need to figure out is how to stop a QB that can snap the ball to himself, and throw a TD pass to himself.....heck last week he even kicked an extra point, after the deep snapped it to himself, and held it, then kicked it....Rumor is he raced a lightning bolt.....and lapped it.

And BTW my freshman year of college our coaches saying for they year was LEAVE NO DOUBTS....

when we lost the final game of the year and missed the playoffs the Local Paper's article was titled:

Talk to me about your games vs: La Grange, Bay City & Sweeny. What happened in those games to make them close? La Grange is a pass happy team with arguably one of the best WR's in 3A (Wilkerson). Our secondary was banged up that day (Cody Langford didn't play--- leading our district with 5 INT's) and they just kept getting the ball to Wilkerson.

Another thing that kept LG in that game was the use of trick plays. They ran the FG unit out there with only 10 guys and Wilkerson near the sideline. Our guys didn't catch what was going on and they threw about a 40 yard TD to Wilkerson. Trick play. Meh. And they also scored a 50 or so yard TD on a WR reverse pass to Wilkerson. LG was down 17 in the 4th qt and scored a TD late to bring it to 10, if I remember correctly. Point being.... game was not as close as score indicated. WC was clearly the better team but a superb use of Trick plays and 1 superior athlete kept LG in it.

Bay City and Sweeny are all-together different stories. BC has a solid run D and they are 4A. We basically just ran it right at them and they slowed us down (something not many teams have done), but WC led that game 22-7 until BC scored a TD in garbage time (2 mins or so left). It was another solid win for the Necks with a team scoring late to make the score more even.

And I think it's safe to say Sweeny was the best team we played all year (6-1 prior to that game with a win over Brazosport-- who WC lost to-- and their only loss coming to Brookshire Royal. Solid defense, capable offense. The Necks D played great to help us win this game. Columbia led 16-0 in the 2nd qt, but give credit to Sweeny for mounting a decent comeback. Still though, the Neck's D held and they won the game. It's always a battle between these 2 and Sweeny is a very good team, hence the close score.

If we play each other are you gonna come sit with me? :D HAHA

Sounds like Sinton and WC match up pretty well....don't know that I like that.

Heck, Rockport is liable to put a thumping on Mathis and we will go DII.

See, if RF wins, WC has a lame first round opponent AND we don't get to see the IHS/NHS matchup, which is what everyone is really pulling for, because we love IHStangFan. :inlove:

BUT, I'm pretty sure I like WC's chances A LOT more if the Necks play RF, rather than Sinton.... so I mean, I'd settle for RF. :D

No wi-fi at our stadium :(

We'll have it next year though.

It would screw everything up. I really want to play against the Dub-C. It will be a MUCH better game than RF/WC. :D

I wouldn't mind it either, except it would give Sweeny & Ingelside the easier 1st round games. Why should those pukes get the easier games when we were the ones to win district?
A Rockport win would straighten out everything nicely...

Mathis will win. I don't think it will be easy for Sweeny if we play Mathis. Having not yet seen Needville, I can't say the same for Ingleside yet.

LOL...anyone that thinks EITHER of these two teams (WC or Sinton) is just gonna ROLL the other one is delusional. WC hasn't really hasn't faced a passing attack like Sinton's, & Sinton hasn't played anyone w/ WC's caliber of athletes and/or speed. I predict a high scoring affair. As to who wins? I'll let the teams sort that out if this game actually takes place. I'm looking forward to it and hope it becomes a reality.

Sweeny will donkeystomp Mathis if they can slow the run. It'll be like playing Needville but w/ more speed. I see Sweeny coming away w/ that game by at LEAST 10 points.

As far as Ingleside/Needville. Ingleside has more of a "quick strike" capability and has about 1000 more passing yds than Needville. Needville has about 1000 more rushing yds than IHS. Needville as you know, likes to run right at you and tries to control the clock. Ingleside will not match up well w/ Needville's size more than likely and Needville will have trouble w/ the speed that Ingleside DOES have. That game will be won by whoever can out coach the other and exploit the other team's weakness. Ingleside lacks size & throws the ball some....Needville lacks speed & runs right at you..... Hmmm....

Sweeny will have to play a complete game and not turn the ball over as we did in our losses to Brookshire Royal and WC.

I don't think Sweeny will have any trouble with their first round opponent. They did a pretty dang good job of slowing down WC's run game, and although the stats suggest otherwise... I say WC's run game > Mathis' run game and WC's defense is MUCH better than Mathis'.

Sweeny will likely score 30+ on Mathis and I doubt highly if Mathis' run game is anywhere near as effective as it's been all season.

If I were to predict now.... I say:

WC>Sinton (Only because I'm a homer--- this one is a toss up actually)
Sweeny > Mathis handily
and IHS>NHS by 10
