As long as D2 has twice as many teams and 1 more game it will ALWAYS be D2.

If you are a small Div 1 it is harder because a school with 600 enrollment is competing with schools of almost twice as many students which usually means more football players to choose from and more backups. The more backups you have the less injuries will hurt you. But at the same time Div 2 in a way can be tougher because you could get a big school that happens to come from a school with big enrollments and other smaller schools are competiting with them for the same reason. I know you can only play 11 players at a time but more backups mean being better able to cope with injuries that do happen.

Not in Reg III... And I want to say there has been a 2-3 year run around '05-'08, that WOS played 3-4 dist champs ina row.

I say DII in Reg 3 is def the toughest..(DI aint real easy either though:D )

The early rounds aren't that tough for either division, but the overall level of competition changes from year to year. D2 may be tougher this year, (debateable as always) but last year you had Gilmer, Wylie, Lovejoy, Cuero and a couple other stout teams in D1..

I agree that with twice the number of teams to start with, Div. II has to be the harder road. To my knowledge Brownwood has never played in the Div. I bracket. I know the year North Crowley won state, they were in Div. I (and the Lions beat them pretty handily in the regular season).

This year it appears to be D2, but that doesn't mean that it's like that every year. It's cyclical. Sometimes D1 brings the stronger overall stable of teams to the table. Remember 3A Division I back in 2001? Forney, Everman, Abilene Wylie, Vernon, Sinton, Bellville, etc, etc. That was a tough run during an "up" year for 3A ball. Same in '03.

Just depends on the year. This year, I'll take D2.

You are correct, the question is, "which is the toughest path to the title in 2010?"... and I said D2 ALWAYS. Which, of course is not really true because it somehow has to measured every year, and as we know, consensus is pretty tough to come by on this topic.
However, I stand by the assertion in general, that if you have TWICE the number of programs involved, with some bigger than those in D2, district winners etc... I say that the OVERALL level of competition, on AVERAGE, is going to be higher in D2 than D1.
Celina as we know goes D1 with 558.
