Vlad didn't play the outfield for all the games in the NL this year, so I don't think benching him today will have too big of a lasting effect.

Besides, now you've got his bat available for whatever crucial at-bat you want to use him for.

Apparently Murphy has been on a hot streak of late, so I'm not sure why VG was in last night.

Although I'm not sure starting Murphy would've changed the outcome any.

Did Vlad make mistakes in the field last night? yes! Did the mistakes cost them any runs, no. Vlad swung the bat VERY well last night. Not sure I trade the fielding for his bat worth!
