The "Applied Science" part of the name means this is a two-year degree with coursework that will largely be non-transferable to a four-year institution. If that's cool with you, go for it. If you're interested in a Bachelor's degree or higher, you'll want an Associate of Science or Arts. Less initial specialization, but transferable to any school in Texas.

an associates degree is no better than a high school diploma...
one of the buildings i manage at tarleton is the industrial technology building and they have some pretty cool stuff, and some really cool software...
