Just found out that I am a grandfather.

Girl

23 3/4 inches

Name: Dakota Jane

Don't know what they were smoking when they picked that name but they probably shouldn't do it anymore.

Mary Jane is probably more appropriate. Of course they do live in Oregon and those folks are a little different out there.:D

Congratulations, Grandpa! I'm hoping it'll be at least 10 more years before I become a grandparent.

I don't dislike either name individually. I'm not thrilled with them put together is all.

If you are going to use a name like Dakota, maybe there shouldn't be a middle name.

I think "Jane" would fit beautifully with a first name of Elizabeth.

I give all the kids nicknames anyways. It doesn't matter what their real name is.:D

My daughter owes me one name because she has four names counting her last name. So, her daughter should only have one name.

Congratulations. Sorry she lives so far away. My first grandchild is due in March. It is a girl by all reports and grandmom has already racked up the bills! I'm really looking forward to the little booger. They live less than an hour away.

Yes it is a long distance to try to visit but I will eventually make the trip. My wife has four grandchildren. Two live in Oklahoma and two in Florida. No grandchildren to spoil very often.

I nicknamed my daughter "Toot" (real name was Elizabeth). That really ticked her off when she got into high school. She isn't going to like any nickname I give this baby. I gotta come up with a nickname for this little one that will really tick my daughter off.

I'm with ya man. I like traditional names also. My wife wanted to name our son something kind of off the wall at first.......however, I was pretty persistent that he didn't get an off the wall name. His final name ended up Charles Anthony - can't get much more traditional than that. I figured the traditional names are really starting to die.....Phillip, Edward, Nickolaus, Charles, etc. They are just not common anymore. I do like Elizabeth Jane.

We all need to mark this name down. I think we could easily be hearing it in 18-19 years from now on nationally televised college volleyball or basketball games. Wonderful gift to the family and an excellent reason to plan a west coast trip. Congrats to all!!
