Probably best thing for both parties---Todd Dodge is a winner of a man and he will surface and do well somewhere very soon.

Dodge was 6-37 in his 4 years at North Texas.

With his years of service and the last 3 years salary, don't be surprised if he retires from coaching.

Yep Dodge is a great guy. I hate that things didn't work out but it was time to move on.

It's not easy to go straight from HS head coach to college head coach, no matter how successful you were in HS.

Remember the Gerry Faust experiment at Notre Dame?

Let's hope UNT can find someone to make them into a halfway decent team.

Just looked it up, looks like you're correct. What is the age + years of service suppose to equal these days?

Great coach, better man. Just goes to show you that college football is strictly business, now more than ever. I do have to say, it would be hard to win ballgames losing 14 players to injury. Todd Dodge will be fine wherever he ends up, he is a legend when it comes to Texas High School Football...

So does Riley stay at UNT or does he seek new residence?

I'd imagine he'll stay at this point. He's not going to be very useful anywhere.

Any chance the current LT coach moves on and Dodge goes there?

That would be great but I don't know if UNT can afford him.

As for Dodge, I see him either returning to the high school ranks or maybe going to another D-1 school as an assistant (I.E. QB coach at Texas or passing game coordinator at OU)

It is currently 90, but he may be old enough to be grandfathered into the rule of 80.

What are the chances he winds back up at SLC?

He has state championship appearances at schools as an assistant to though.

Of course he would.. There prolly aren't many coaches that wouldn't want that job. I mean it's an up and coming Division 1 program in a top 5 media/recruiting market with the third largest enrollment in the state. The team will have a new stadium next season and has great support from fans and students despite a losing record. This is a great job, prolly better than some Big 12 schools even.

Wow, I was thinking it was 75, my bro-in law is fixing to be 50 and he's been teaching for 24 years. He plans on retiring after next year.

Is this the same Todd Dodge that played at TJ back in the late 70s early 80's. Boy if it is that guy he sure was a good football player back in the day. Dodge and Duhon were a household name in Port Arthur at that time.

I wouldn't want anything to do with UNT they are at best the 2nd worse team in the state of Texas behind these schools

1. Texas
2. TCU
3. Texas A&M
4. Texas Tech
5. Baylor
6. Houston
7. SMU
8. UTEP
9. Rice
10. UNT

Add Tarleton, Texas A&M Commerce, Texas State, SFA and probably Austin College in Sherman as better than UNT...lol

i said it earlier in the year that all this SLC 7 on 7 stuff was set up by SLC admin in an attempt to set up their head coach and get him in trouble so they could bring Dodge back in after this football season when hes fired...hmm.....we shall see!!!

When coaches look at an opportunity they don't look at what the last coach did. They look at potential and UNT has as much potential as any school in the state of Texas despite what a tshirt texass fan says.

It was 80 when I started working in 1991. I would think coaches are on the same schedule as other school faculty.

Riley can stay or since his dad was the HC, he can go to another university without sitting out. He is more than likely staying though.
