Thanks for posting... at first read it does seem absurd, especially the draw, when you can have the 2 best teams playing each other in round 1 etc. However, when you think about it, those 2 teams are going to have to play each other at some point anyway.
At least their system leads to only 1 state champion per class ;)

Happens here all the time when district champions go D1. My sophomore year of HS we finished 10-0 and played another 10-0 team in the first round.

Yep, in D1 you're correct... if Argyle had a few more kids, we'd be playing them in the 1st round, a meeting of 2 of the top 4 teams in the state.

To be the state champion you have to play the best team anyway. 1st round or finals...
