Of the top 5 or so teams in each division of this years 7 on 7, what are the 11-man records?

Just curious if 7 on 7 results are starting to equate to 11 man success like some have stated.

I know Brownwood and Cameron are unbeaten, as is Celina who had 7 on 7 success. Lake Travis is good. Who are some others?

I'm pretty sure that the teams with the most athletes/talent are the teams that had success in both 7 on 7 and 11 man football. I hardly think participation in one translates into any success in the other. It's all about the talent!

I agree that 7 on 7 is all about who has the athletes. But at the same time you hear "you don't have to block or tackle so you can't compare them." I'm just curious how the upper 7 on 7 teams have faired this season.

Have there been any teams that did really well in 7-on-7 that do NOT run the spread?

Do most teams run a different offense for 77 than 11?

I don't believe they (coaches) would allow it to keep going if it didn't help, you can get legitimate arguments for both sides of the 7 on 7 competition, regardless, this season the top 7 on 7 teams are also top regular football teams, I'm a believer it does help some teams, some it won't.

This goes back to my original question. There is great benefit if your going to run the same offense all year long. If you run the veer, the 77 isn't really setup for that type of smash mouth football.

Celina does not run the spread.

Celina...has 3 7-on-7 Titles and NO Spread...

And yes, they won 7-on-7 in 2009 and it didn't translate to
'ultimate' success in 11-man.

They may have won 11-man State titles the other 2 time they won 7-on-7.

What type of offense did you use in 77 as opposed to 11 or was it the same?

I just want to know what the records are for the top 7 on 7 teams this year. I don't care that Aledo, for example, is undefeated because they aren't a 7 on 7 type team. I'm just curious if any of the good 7 on 7 teams are down in 11 man.

This website might help you. I found it back in the summer and saved the url. Lots of good info here including State Results & History, and brackets of who played who.

And also the Austin American Statesman had some good photos which I saved. I especially like the pic of Graylon and team gathered in a pow wow.

Matthew328 of theoldcoach.com posts on here quite a bit, he could answer what the records are of the teams, he's a big 7 on 7 guy, all I know is that there are schools in each classification that are in the AP top 10, that did real well in 7 on 7.

If you are a non veer, slot T, or wishbone, 7 on 7 is good for your athletes. At the very least the Qb and receivers get lots of reps, as do your linebackers and dbs. Specifically for spread teams, its very valuable.

7 on 7 is beneficial, no matter what you do offensively, because it keeps the kids together during the summer, keeps them focused on football of some sort, keeps them conditioned, and refines basic football skills(route running, passing, catching, reading coverages, pass coverage, etc...).

There's also consolation brackets on that website for the 2010 results. From looking at the brackets and scores, you can readily see, there are a lot of teams in 11-man high ranking that were 7on7 participants.

Ok so Division I top 4 are:
Lake Travis, DeSoto, MacArthur, and Dawson.

And DII Brownwood, Cameron, Celina, And Lucas (Lovejoy?)

Lake Travis 6-1
DeSoto 6-1
MacArthur 7-1
Dawson

Brownwood 8-0
Cameron 8-0
Celina 8-0
If Lovejoy 7-1

This correct?

Matthew328

So the final 8 are 55-7 this year or close to it. I guess it's safe to say it's better to be good at 7 on 7 than not :D
