Navasota defense starting to settle in. Ball hasn't really bounced the Leps way thus far.

Why do I post this stuff? Leps turn the tide right after I post this with two big plays, and a 21 yard run up the middle for a TD. 21-6 Rattlers after a blocked FG. Then Navasota gets a PF unsportsmanlike conduct after a pushing and shoving match. Kickoff will be 15 longer.

Rattlers hold on 4th and goal with 5 seconds left in the half. At their own 6, Navasota will kneel.

21-6 Rattlers at the half. Rattlers will get the ball back.

Rattlers gain one first and stall; punt to the LG 35. 1st and 10 LG.

LG gains a first and stalls, now punting on 4th and 8. Rattlers take over at their own 37. 5:35 3rd. Still 28-6 Rattlers.

Navasota goes three and out. Great punt by Regelado with a full out block attempt, LG takes over with 3:06 in the third at their own 11.

LG backs themselves up with consecutive penalties to their own 5. Bad punt fielded at the 42, and the Rattlers take over at the LG 37 within striking distance. Nice field position game played by the Rattlers!

Ughhh. Rattlers go for a 4th and 2 from the LG 16 and throw a pick. You know what they say about throwing late in the game and up big....

Leps get a big gainer for a first down, but a tackle for loss and a sack back them up. Navasota ball at their own 30 after the punt. 9:30 in the 4th. Still 28-6.

Timeout Refs after the first Rattler play. A Rattler lineman and a Lep lineman get into a fist fight, and get off-setting penalties. Refs telling the coaches to get their teams under control.

And now a Lep player takes the ball after the second play and spikes it in front of the ref. Player is ejected. 15 yarder moves the ball inside the Lep 40. Come on kids.

10-15-2010, 09:42 PM
Navasota stalls at the LG 40 still trying to pass the ball. Punt for a touchback, 1st and 10 Leps at their own 20. Under 9 to go in the fourth.

Lep player was not ejected after all. He gained a first down. Leps will have to punt from their own 18 though after another Lep personal foul penalty blow to the head. I want this game to end pretty quick. 5:03 in the 4th.

10-15-2010, 09:51 PM
Leps get the ball back after a punt goes into the endzone. 2:22 to go.

navscanmaster
10-15-2010, 09:55 PM
Rattlers get the ball back after a Lep punt. With 33 second left, Navasota will run one play and win this one.

FINAL Navasota 28, LaGrange 6. You can tell LaGrange was missing some firepower. Good win Rattlers!

Congrats to the Rattlers. it was an ugly game with too many penalties lots of frustration and confusion evident from the Leps players and coaches. But the Rattlers just outplayed our boys.

Now for the gripes: Refs blew a call before the half when our guy caught a tipped pass in the end zone for what should have been a td. The ball came out after the catch when he was on the ground. He had the ball in possession on the way down. That is a td.

Good showing by the Lep defense to keep it respectable but you can tell they missed their two best players tonight (#75 playing a few downs @ 50% with taped sprained ankle and #9 out with a concussion).

BTW The coaches should have yelled at themselves in the locker room at half time after terrible clock management and play calling on that last drive.

Good luck to the Rattlers the rest of the way. They are a very good football team as we knew going in.

Receiver must maintain catch during the entire act of securing the catch. NCAA rules and interpretations were changed regarding this a few years ago making it almost identical the the present NFL rules. Calvin Johnson - Detroit Lions receiver recently learned this. A receiver can make a catch, take a couple of steps even in the end zone now and if he is falling because of the act of making a catch and loses the football, it is not a catch and ruled incomplete provided the fall is not caused by a defensive player. I don't like the present rule interpretation change either for what it is worth. 5 years ago that was a TD! When receiver had possession and as soon as one foot came down in the end zone.....ball was dead and a TD....but not anymore!
