Ouch, Sheilds is going to get an earful at the dugout. Botched pick off play get Texas a run.

He just fell down on a pitch and threw the pitch behind Michael Young.

Rangers have Elvis on 3rd with 2 outs.

Matt Treanor scored from third on a throwing error by the pitcher. Texas leads 1-0 going to the bottom of the 3rd.

After Sheilds gets his Arse chewed on for a botched pick up play, he will get teased about falling down on his delivery, all in 1 single at bat.

I was hoping he would be rattled enough to give Hamilton a meatball to smash

I'm a little worried that the Rangers aren't hitting this Sheilds character more than they are. He has given up the most HRs in the MLB this season and comes into this game with a ERA over 5. The Rangerts should have chased him already!!!!

Wilson's stuff is pretty good today. He should go deep into the innings since his pitch count is low.

The check swing interpretation is tough.....My view was always whether or not the wrist breaks. You know a batter is cutting lose if they roll the wrist. But that just my opinion.

I see why Madden was so mad

Washington said he was going to let them have fun and swing away. They look like that's exactly what they are doing.

Plus its helping that the Rays pitchers are falling behind in the count early.

Other than Bartlett's single in the first, Wilson would have had a no-hitter going. Stuggling a bit now though.

No, because he follows that up with a bobbled ball on second that allows a base runner.

Ok I agree with WHY he started him..but if ur so quick to pull him you should have never started him.

And they have a #2 pitcher in Garza.

The talk on the local stations is that Shields "away" record and performance is so atrocious that Madden was hoping that he might sneak out a good performance at the Trop and leave Garza for the first game in Arlington.

Again I understand why they started him..I thought it was not a bad idea the minute the Rays announced the rotation

My point is if the trust is not there to even let him attempt to get out his FIRST jam of the game then dont start him.

I know the leash is shorter in play offs but IMO that was to short and yes I know the Rays have the best bullpen in the AL, but that is because their starters were one of the best at going deep into the games.

I think once Madden saw Shields losing it he was more than ready to let his mid relief pick up the pieces. The leash has to be shorter in the playoffs... and I am not sure if I remember Madden ever having a long one in October.

I can vouch for slpy--he does support the Rangers and always has, with the sole exception being when the Rangers play the Sox. If I cheer for the Sox when they're not playing the Rangers, that doesn't make me a bandwagon Sox fan. It means the Sox are my secondary team. Seems like anyone who follows sports would understand how that works.

It could have something to do with Shield's 1.25 ERA against the Rangers in his other game against them this season. Madden realized it wasn't going to be a repeat.

The great thing about this 2-0 lead for the Rangers is that Vlad and Hamilton are not hitting very good yet and they are still winning. If Vlad and Hamilton get hot it will be ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!!!!!!! :D

Neither is doing terrible though. Both are 2-8 with 1 R and Vlad has an RBI. Definitely not up to par for either but in post season, that might be enough to keep them going if the others keep up their production.
