What are your thoughts on this rule? It seems, IMO, to be slanted in favor of the ball carrier who can extend an open hand to the facemask of a defensive player but, a D lineman for example, cannot. This topic has probably been discussed here before although I have not seen it . Thoughts?-comments?-suggestions?

All can contact the facemask. Rule book just states it can't be continuous. Ball carrier can contact (stiff arm) too, but it can't be continuous. Rules are 9-3-3 and 9-3-4.

Now, what's continuous? Rule book don't state what that is. I think the one's who write these rules (coaches) need to clarify this somewhat. Continuous to me is different I'm sure then someone else seeing the same play a week earlier.

In all cases, at no time can that face mask contact be in a pulling, twisting or turning motion.
