Im not just talking about winning record. Getting the job done is not enough anymore. Some coaches rather have a winning record but how many coaches out there sit there star player because of how he handles himself out in the public.

Bob Shipley. I can't go into what he has done recently, but he sent a strong message. Also, previous Lion coach Steve Freeman. He took in a kid named Freddie Stoglin and basically raised him for a year or so, among other things.

Weldon Nelms- for the way he holds his players to a higher level of accountability and the way he goes about it. He's usually like a proud papa out there but then when you screw up (something big) he doesn't crawl on you, nope, he just looks at you and tells you how disappointed he is. It just rips you apart. No yelling, no screaming just quiet disappointment. In the end it draws you nearer to him and you never want to disappoint him again so you never act a fool again. Very effective. Wish I knew how to pull it off.

Jeff Traylor & Staff...they have not only built a winning team, they have established a program that developes character, pride, self esteem, manners, all those things that make men & women. In addition, they have done more for the community instilling Buckeye Pride and bringing it together....those that know us well, see it. I am a Proud Buckeye.

All these replies and not one vote for Gordon Wood? I'm disappointed in you Brownwood people......I'd vote for him and I'm was a Wylie dad.

Coach Norton :D

Wayne: So, Coach, how's your parole coming?
Coach Norton: Not good. The victim's whiny family keeps complaining
J.D.: God! What is their PROBLEM?

7 state championships delivered and the Shipley gets the top billing from you guys? Shipley's only been there 2 years, and we all know how stellar the first one was, and he gets the nod now?
In the words of my dear friend GP77

It was the first thing I thought of when I saw the thread, however I figured if I posted that the Brownwood Haters would just start in again. :dispntd:
