You can thank 90% of the other posters for it. We Brownwood posters rarely ever start a thread about us. It's all the others doing it. I do kinda know how you guys feel. In 2006 there was a new thread about Gilmer just about every day for 11 weeks. Nearly every one was started by someone that was not from there. Week 11 we lost in 1st round and everyone dissed on us for going out early. I came and took my medicine even though I had little to do with all that brought it on. Its a long season, we will see how it plays out. Brownwood certainly looks like the frontrunner, but it doesn't always play out like you think...............isn't that right Decatur:D

Brownwood is not invincible. Any team is beatable. That's why they line up and play the game every week. To prove they are battle tested and will play to win. Just like everyone else. Just giving these kids some credit and notoriety for their hard work isn't a crime, is it? They will play their hardest every game. If they don't, they know they have a huge target on their chest and can fall any given week. But, they are hungry! They want it bad!!

Yep. I wasn't even on this site that year. I didn't find the 3Adownlow until '07, and I was STILL hearing about the '06 team and taking flack about it when I did finally get here. If I would've been on here then I would've told everybody that I didn't think that team would live up to hype. I actually said it to my wife after the Daingerfield game, the second or third game that year (a game we won 62-42). I told my little brother, wife, and some friends that Gilmer would get beat in the playoffs IF anybody held them under 40 points. We even talked about how worried we were on the way to the bi-district game. Face it, for all the firepower our offense had that year, the Buckeye defense wasn't good enough.

I can agree with that. It sucks sometimes to have a target on your back, but all you can do is go out and do what you do, and not buy into the hype. It doesn't matter how good a team is, there's always a team out there that can give you problems, and can match up with you. Injuries can play a part, too, but like Coach Traylor stresses to our team: healthy teams don't win championships, tough teams do. We played through a LOT of injuries last year, but we still went wire-to-wire and won it all. It can be done.

What exactly does "on paper' mean? Have you done some sort of mano y mano matchup against every team? Its a long season Rocket and I think there are many that will continue to improve and have the ability to compete with Brownwood "on the field". However, with all your qualifiers you always throw out there ("healthy brownwood....blah blah blah)" you will have some excuse if they do. In addition, I think there are those out there who can compete now.

Coming in to last week the defense had 11 take aways... I believe we added 2 more so that's 13 (maybe 14).

The starting QB has thrown 2 INTs, I know we have had 1 fumble... I'm sure there has been another at some point but I'm unsure.

I totally agree. They have certainly earned the kudos and coverage from the media they've received. I don't think anyone can deny they are looking very good right now. Yes, the only way for it to stop is for them to lose. I say let them enjoy the ride while it lasts. I'm thinking "name one 3A team that shows up with their pad & j---- on that can hang with Brownwood." Oh, it is done for 1 quarter, then look out. It's bombs away! We have been showing teams, we came to play football and teams would best mind their manners cause that really seems to get the 2010 team rolling off to 6 - 7 td's.

In crappy 3A? Lol you compare apples to oranges. Wylie wouldn't be an afterthought in 4A. Wylie has proven that they are a good Region I team but just not good enough to do much else. We both know that if Brownwood had been 3A the last 30 years there would be more state championships than 7! Sit down and watch a real team handle business... IF Brownwood wins Division 2 this year, you should place an asterisk next to their title. They will be 1 of 2 champions in 3A this year. Regardless of who wins Division 1, Brownwood WOULD be co-champions.

It will always be that way until the UIL changes it back to one 3A champion.

At the same time, they should only have the district champions advance to the playoffs. Then, we won't have to watch 2-8, 3-7, 4-6, and 5-5 teams in the playoffs each year.
