View Full Version : Ingleside @ Robstown

Ingleside (3-1) travels to Robstown (2-2) in the last pre-district game.

Inglesides loss was to Zapata 19-26.

Robstown losses have come to stated ranked Refugio (6-36) and Sinton (14-35).

This game is going to be big for both teams. I can't even begin to make a prediction. I hope that the Mustangs go out and give it 110% and come out with the victory.

Both teams are prone to turnovers. I'm gonna take the Mustangs by 10.

I don't know about Ingleside, but I know Robstown has killed themselves in the last two games with turnovers.

We lost 36-6 to Refugio, but 15 of those points came off defensive touchdowns for the Bobcats. Take those points away and 21-6 is somewhat more respectable.

Last night we coughed one up in the red zone and gave up another defensive touchdown. Take that TD away and we could have had a 28-21 final possibly.

Anyway a lose is a lose and a win is a win. We need to learn from these errors and keep preparing for district.

I think this could be a good game. We were unable to beat Ingleside the last two years when we were district opponents, but those contests were both competitive games.

Robstown out gained both Refugio and Sinton offensively and held both teams to season low offensive yards but like you mention costly points given up on fumbles that were return for tds.

Much the same as far as turnovers go. Ingleside threw 4 picks in Oso territory. One of them was with 6 seconds left in West Oso's red zone. The "if's" are always going to come into play when a game is lost or won very closely. Bottom line is that turning the ball over against good teams spells disaster. If the defense is on the field all night, eventually they are going to get worn down.

Robstown is bigger than last year. They run the ball better, too. Gonna be a tough game for Ingleside.

If Ingleside's passing game is like it was against West Oso then Robstown will kick butt. Interceptions and dropped passes aren't going to get it.

I think this game hinges on Ingleside's passing game. If the Mustangs can't make the passing game work then they lose. The defense and running game has been consistent all year. It is a lot of responsiblity to put on a freshmen QB. Hope he is up to it.

Ingleside will do fine. QB Barajas is young but he is smart and has football savy. I know this fine young man and he will surprise you with his instinct and ability to make plays. He is just starting to settle in. The mustangs have several up and coming young men with talent and speed so, be on the look out.

I am sorry, I should not forget his older brother A. Barajas who is always a serious threat when he touches the ball or lays a nice hit on you. We have the Killer B's and more coming your way. Good luck Mustangs, I believe in you.

The QB (Tristan Barrajas) is the younger brother of Austin Barrajas the running back and baseball player. I think there is another brother that runs track.

Thanks for the welcome. Last night I went and saw the Ingleside 8th grade and the JV play. I assume they run a lot of the plays the varsity runs. The one I found interesting is where Robstown will line up four receivers to one side and they will scatter the receivers or the QB will boot leg and run to the opposite side of the field. It will be a good game tonight. Make sure to bring your bug spray because they were bad last night.

Ingleside still unpredictable, they can turn it around by district and contend for the title as its kind of weird because they're 3-1 and they're considered struggling still but shows they can get the W as they haven't even peak yet this season.

From reading the Caller Times article, it looks like Matt McHugh started this game and threw well. Kudos to the CottenPickers for stopping Ingleside twice inside their 5 yard line in the 3rd qtr. I am sure that was definitely a momentum killer for Ingleside.

This sounded like one heck of a game. If Ingleside can play with this type of intensity and take advantage of being in the redzone, I think they stand a chance of making the playoffs.

I agree. I think this Mustangs squad is currently going through some growing pains, but is still good enough to be in the thick of the playoff race.

Great win, Pickers. Seemed like Robstown controlled much of the game and it took a nice little rally to get back into the game. Both these teams should do very well this season.

I decided to go scout yall :D and the play calling was a little surprising BOTH times in the red zone. Robstown's D is big up front and they had good pursuit to the ball. The passing is what was killing them and not one pass was attempted. I kept waiting on the fade in the corner to McHugh and it never came.

The McHugh to McHugh combo is fun to watch! Those 2 dudes are fast! They are good at making people miss. Will need sure tackles to keep them from running loose.

Things should be very interesting starting next week. Who do yall play next week? I don't feel like looking it up :D

I saw that as well and the sportscaster did a replay because it was really suspect.
