View Full Version : West Oso @ Ingleside

Ingleside may still be looking to place a couple of the players in their final positions before districts starts. It sounds like a Freshman QB started this past Friday against Beeville and had a better 2nd half performance than in the 1st. Not sure if the coach is looking to potentially keep the freshman at the helm, but #33 David McHugh was the starting QB in the last two games and was mainly playing WR in the game against Beeville.

West Oso has had it rough their last 3 games playing Beeville, Devine, and Sinton. They lost 15-8 to Beeville and were completely shut down by Sinton (34-6).

It will be interesting to see how the game turns out and if Ingleside decides to go with a Freshman QB that has great potential.

LOL, it'll be close...........right up to opening kickoff. This won't be a "test" for Ingleside unless they are concerned how their team responds to being bored to tears.:D

West Oso is terrible. You guys will not have any trouble scoring or keeping them from scoring!

Didn't see any speed offensively, but their MLD is pretty dang good and the dude that stripped the ball and scored their TD was pretty fast & big. :D

I was told by some of the parents that McHugh told the coach that he did not want to be the quarterback anymore so Tristan Barrajas (freshmen) took over. I was at the game in Beeville and thought Barrajas did a fine job for a freshman with his first start. I'm glad this change was made now and not latter in the season. I think it is the right move for Ingleside.

No doubt that he did pretty good for his first start as a Freshman. I wonder why David McHugh din't wan't to be the QB anymore, if that was the case.

From what little I've seen of the McHugh brothers at WR, they may be able to get the attention of some smaller colleges. Don't know if that's why, but it would be a viable reason.

The McHugh boy is adequate as a quarterback. Nowhere near the quality of the quarterbacks Ingleside has had the last 6 years. He needs to stay at the receiver spot. Both McHughs are outstanding receivers. Tristan Barrajas is going to be a very good quarterback. Starting to develope him now is the right move for Ingleside. He is as good as McHugh at this point so nothing has been lost by these changes.

I kind of thought they lost a pretty good receiver by moving him to qb but they needed somebody that could handle the pressure at that position.

That's good to know. Sounds like these are just the growing pains associated with a team that's in the preocess of retooling.

To start as a Freshman and potentially be the go to QB really says something for him. I agree that having both McHughs at the WR position is going help open up the run and pass game exponentially. Looking forward to see how this works down the line.

I think the real benefits will be apparent next year. Tristan Barrajas will have a year's experience under his belt and will still have the McHugh brothers to throw to. Also, Austin Barrajas (Tristan's brother) and Marquise Barolle will still be in the backfield. I think 2011 will be a great year for Ingleside. This year I think we should be thrilled to just make the playoffs.

I would like to say that things are looking up for the Mustangs right before district play, but from tonights performance offensively it doesn't appear that way. The QB threw 4 interceptions driving into West Oso territory. The WR's were running good routes and were open, but he just wasn't getting the ball to them. He is young and going to make mistakes as a freshman, but if Ingleside plays like they did tonight against some of the better teams left on their schedule.. it is not going to fair so well. They have 1 tough district game left to figure it all out.

On the bright side, the Defense did an outstanding job of keeping us in the game. They did what they had to do by stopping West Oso on their final drive. The linebackers were hitting hard and making the stops.

i think yalls coaches will use game film as a positive for your qb. the good thing is he had an off night, and still got the win. he'll learn from it, and move on.

I agree and I forgot to give props to the West Oso Bears. They definitely had something to do with keeping it a close game last night. They had some big boys on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. They really have have played some good teams on their pre-season schedule. It might serve them well once district play starts.

Dang, props to the WO players. Forced some turnovers, capitalized on mistakes, and took this Ingleside squad down to the wire.

Great game, Bears. Maybe we'll see each other again in the playoffs.
