If I pick this game based on what I see on paper, Brownwood wins big. However, I have seen China Springs beat alot of teams they were not supposed to beat. They may lose, but I guarantee you that they will play hard every second and never give up.

I agree that Brownwood is the class of 3A this year, but keep in mind that if you build your hill on comments like:

"The TRUTH is CS is gonna get spanked. Classless? Nope, just truth."

I think at this point, any team who looks like they are going to make a play off run would love to play Brownwood <bows head>. Even if there is absolutely no doubt at all that Brownwood <bows head> is going to win, its exactly the type of game a team should want so as to gauge itself, measure it against a very, very good team, and hopefully learn and improve.

By the way...are the Brownwood <bows head> games video streamed? And are they archived?

I can't help you a whole lot, I know they've struggled some. I heard they didn't have a very good season in 8th grade, so any success this year is probably some improvement. I'm not sure how they did against Gatesville. They lost to Graham, and lost a close game to Stephenville. Not sure how they did with Llano.

Against Sville we were down 14-12 in the 4th. Sville added a TD with a few seconds left to make the final 22-12. Even the people from Sville on the Sville board said they had a little 'home cooking' in getting the win though.

Y'all had us down by almost 21? Could've sworn we scored on our first offensive play, then a shootout emerged in the first to second quarter only to go away when we scored right before the half. Then (if my memory is correct, could be wrong) shut y'all out the rest of the half. I think y'alls biggest lead was 7??

Lost to Llano 35-21. It was 21-21 with 4 minutes to go when Bwd had 2 tipped passes that were intercepted/returned. It was a nip/tuck ballgame until the last 4 minutes. It really was anyone's ballgame up til then.

Until a team even scores 21 points on us I'm not going to worry about how they will catch up. It doesn't matter how bad us fans want 8. It comes down to how hard our kids work to get #8. If they want it bad enough this year, it might just be our time.

The only thing that would scare me if I was a Brownwood fan would just be that it appears that your team is playing LIGHTS OUT really really early on their road to #8. I think we would all agree it is very, very difficult to maintain that same 'high' throughout an entire season.

Until you see adversity, you never know how your team might take it. I am in no way saying I think this.. but, they might see adversity in a certain game this year against a weaker opponent and just crumble? Mind games/mentalities are tricky things. When you believe you cannot be beat and you have been world beating all summer and all pre-district it's very easy to perform at a VERY high level like the Lions have been. But when that little bit of doubt creeps in due to maybe a close win where you turned it over a ton; or God forbid a key player misses a week due to a minor injury and you barely escape with a victory... then it is a WHOLE NEW BALL GAME.


If I was y'all, I would be hoping and praying for adversity in some form before it gets to crunch time. Otherwise, it could be one of those "we never saw it coming, we just completely fell apart out of the blue" kind of games.

Brownwood had adversity against Stephenville (a good team that barely lost to 5A power, Hebron). It was 14-10 at halftime. Then Brownwood came out, and relied on some great coaching and totally jacked them up outscoring them 35-6 in the second half.

Remember, everybody and their dog said Stephenville was going to just wipe the floor with Brownwood. Um, no....

Also remember what the sideline show guys said about Brownwood...we aren't just homering this thing to death...

There might be a game with some adversity, no doubt, but I will never be scared. Brownwood can score too easy. Too many weapons. I have seen tons of Brownwood football, never seen anything like this... yes, Brownwood can be beat...I just don't see it happening. That is just my opinion. The kids have to make it happen, not my smack talk...LOL

It is also not uncommon to see teams with a SYSTEM, execute it week in and week out. 3A secondaries have not adapted to the spread offense. They do not see it enough. Not week after week. Still way too many run only offenses out there. If a team can execute the spread with the weapons Brownwood has, it will be VERY hard to stop them.

Don't forget how well Brownwood's defense is playing. That is the shocker. Not just our offense, the defense is manning up and stopping teams...

Daddy D11 makes a really good point. It's very hard to play such quality ball for so many months without fail. So, it is appearing to me that one of two things will come to pass....
1) Brownwood <bows head> loses steam and focus in the playoffs and loses unexpectedly, ending what looked to be an easy ride to the State Championship (aka Gilmer a few years back as they lost to LE in 2006)
2) Brownwood <bows head> continues its performance and proves they are all "that".

The crowds at Underwoods are usually pretty big bc out of towners stop in. I would also recommend Section Hand Steakhouse (only about 5 minutes away from stadium) it is very good.
