had thier first scrimmage tonight at 6. Cole Hubble and Brooks Blakemore hooked up on a couple of pass plays. Funny how district rivals become a team combination. OC is obvious of who his favorites are. thats ok though within the year the better players will shine. they mess up and he doesn't say a word. someonelse does he goes bullistic.

I'm going to miss these shirts :(

Now that's funny right there!
One scrimmage, intersquad at that, and football experts are already getting after the coaches. Yeah, I'm the sure the HC and his staff could learn a lot from bulldog82 on how to manage their players:rolleyes:

Sorry..

Western Athletic Conference commissioner Karl Benson said UTSA athletic officials will likely be asked to reprise an informal presentation they gave Wednesday in Denver for the league's membership committee in the next two weeks, potentially advancing the school's quest to reach the Football Bowl Subdivision.
Benson met with UTSA athletic director Lynn Hickey, head football coach Larry Coker and department deputies Brad Parrott and Jim Sarra for about three hours Wednesday morning to hear the school's case for membership in the WAC.

“(UTSA) is obviously a school that we're looking at very, very closely, and are very, very interested in,” Benson said. “The information they provided magnified the assets they have and the commitment they have, and the fact that they are somewhere down the road of becoming a very viable and legitimate member of the BCS.”

Benson said Texas State athletic director Larry Teis and school president Denise Trauth made a similar presentation about six weeks ago in Denver and would likely be asked to meet again with WAC members on the same day as UTSA. He said he didn't think the two schools, rival members of the Southland Conference, would either hurt or help the other's cause.

“It's neutral,” he said. “They both are very on-track to get to their final destination (of FBS membership).”

Benson said UTSA and Texas State are the only schools to have made presentations so far. He said he's been in varying degrees of contact with six to eight other schools spread among the FBS and Football Championship Subdivision.

With pending litigation to keep Fresno State and Nevada in the conference through the 2011-12 school year, Benson said it was too early to say how many schools the WAC could add.

The WAC membership committee is comprised of the athletic directors of the six remaining schools: Louisiana Tech, Hawaii, New Mexico State, Utah State, San Jose State and Idaho. Benson said he does not have a vote on potential new members.

Louisiana Tech athletic director Bruce Van De Velde said the addition of UTSA would “really help” his school.

“We love it because they're in the Central Time Zone, and we recruit to Texas,” he said. “I think it would be a nice fit for them. We'll see what happens.”

Hickey said Wednesday's meeting went well but that it was too early to gauge UTSA's chances of earning an invitation.

“We've got a lot more to do,” she said. “It was a good meeting, but it was just Step 1 in the beginning of a long process. We learned a lot, and hopefully he learned a lot about UTSA.”

Thanks. It'd be nice to have two more D1 schools in Texas.... too bad the high school recruits won't all stay here... we would have enough to make them all successful.

Texas State would be a better fit than UTSA

Let them go WAC, we're shooting for Big XII lol

travel costs for the WAC will run a Texas football program (especially a young one) into the ground.

Plus with the schools that left, the WAC is perhaps the worst conference in college football.

UTSA and TSU would be smart to set their sites at the Sun Belt.

Or C-USA, since it actually has good teams in it.

Talked to my professor today that taught at Cal Poly years ago which is who we play this weekend, and they have told their professors that they would be taking pay cuts and have to take forced leave periodically, yet they can come to texas to play little ole us haha

No way C-USA lets those two schools in.. They would let LA Tech Mid Tennessee State or North Texas in before UTSA and TSU..

Thats not a shot at either of those schools either.. There is just a long line of schools that would like to be in CUSA with much better tradition, experience and notoriety..

No offense taken...if we can't win the Southland year in and year out, then I don't think we should be added to one of the bigger Non-AQ divisions
