Wimberley (3-0) puts their undefeated record on the line against La Vernia (1-2) who beat Giddings 21-20 last week.

Very strange to read about the Bears 21-20 Win over Giddings.
The Buff's had been looking unbeatable after first two weeks. LV now looks like they will have something to say about who Wins D28.

Obviously i am going with Wimberley, but La Vernia has always played us tough, and its their homecoming too. This will be no cake walk. If we dont bring our A game, we could be in trouble.

I hope the game takes everything out of the Bears for the next week.

Wimberley should roll easily in this one however being in La Vernia it could be close.

Sounds like La Vernia has improved since I saw them in the Bandera scrimmage, but Wimberley is too much to handle. Wimberley wins this one.

I'm with you on this one. I think it's going to be a better game than most seem to think.

I tend to agree. But I think it's because of a late Wimberley touchdown. I think this one will be close the entire way.

Historically LV always gives us a good game, especially at home. Im pleased with how the team looks 4 weeks into the season, but we still have much room for improvement - which is a good thing.

Like every other team does, I expect LV to stack the box & key off of Smith to start the ballgame. Our short and intermediate passing game will need to be clicking early to keep the LV defense honest. Last week Smithville followed that same defensive scheme and our QB burned them on zone read keepers for 2 TD's of 48 and 22 yards. Hopefully we can have some success with that if LV is determined to load up on Smith.

Should be a great game and may the best team win.

I wouldn't be surprised to see La Vernia win this.
This coming from someone who likes the Texans.

Wimberley always has tons of talent and can hurt you if leave someone uncovered. If the Bears keep the miscues down to a minimum, the coaches will have a game plan that will keep them in the game with a chance to win in the end.

Wimberly will take this game by 17 or better. Just what I think is going to happen. Too many threats, La Vernia will not be able to score enough to keep up.

If Wylie beat la vernia then why will this game be close?? Has la vernia gotten that good in two weeks? I can't imagine them hanging with wimberley if they are truly a "top 5 team." Did Wylie play great and la vernia play terrible? Not trying to start anything I just can't see this being close unless I'm severely mistaken about that game.

Good questions, Tin Cup. Are the Texans truly a top 5 team? I think so, but I am biased. Looking at it strictly from a realistic point of view, I say the jury is still out. We beat Cuero, who still has much to prove to the football world as to whether or not they are worthy of the "Cuero mystic" this year (personally, i think they are). Smithville? Dripping Springs? Weak opponents. But yet, we beat them as we should have. So where are we?

We will find out this Friday against La Vernia, and the following against Sealy.

La Vernia should be a good test for Wimberley.

Still don't know who wins. La Vernia always starts the year strong.:nerd:

Yes. La Vernia played terrible against Wylie. They had six fumbles that came at the worst possible times, and they failed to punch it in with a first and goal from the one yard line. Has La Vernia gotten that good in two weeks? Perhaps. Giddings came in with quite a few more studs than Wylie and got beat just last week. Wimberley may win this one because their offense is pretty multi-dimensional. I think that's the difference between Wimberley and Giddings.

Thanks LV_BearFan...sloppy, wet game....too many turn overs hurt you, and sloppy plays with penalties from both of us made it short of an exciting game. But your boys never gave up and made a respectable showing with heart and grit. Your QB has a good arm!
