First off, that was as clean a game as any Wood vs Ville game I have watched. Second, I now believe that we really are #1. We have so many weapons. You cant just double Shipley, if you do, every other player eats your lunch. The big back from Ville is a hoss. But, he gave out. Plain and simple. We hit him until he didnt want anymore. I did see a few (ok a bunch) of holding in the villes backfiield that the refs did not see but it was much much better than the refs last year in Stephenville.

The PI was close so weather it is called is 50/50 and as much as I thought some of the holding calls should have been made I probally also would have been the guy that would have been yelling "let em play" if they would have thrown a flag on all those I was yelling about.

There was some horrible no calls that included our helmets getting ripped off and offensive lineman tackling our defensive lineman. Like you said, it didn't matter. We danky stomped that arse.

Like I said on the other thread Brownwood has not won a game that matters yet. Last nights win was great for our fan base but means zero if we dont follow thru the rest of the year. I remember when we were ranked #10 in 4A with 3a enrollment and beat #1 Cove who had Robert Griffin (for the first few series) who had 5A numbers. After that we struggled the rest of the year and did not even make the playoffs.... I dont think Coach Shipley will let that happen this year

We beat that #1 Copperas Cove team without Griffin.

We won a game that mattered last night. This game defined that we are for real. We dominated a legit 4A. Well, they have only beaten Wylie, so I guess that is up in the air. Nevermind.... LOL

I agree. I'm sure we have some kids this morning that can't get their helmets on (posters too! ;) ) but they deserve that feeling and need to enjoy their hard work. This game was actually closer thought it would be later in the game. After watching both teams in consecutive weeks, I could see that Bwd had the advantage on offense and conditioning, but was still questioning whether Bwd's D could contain Myles & Co. Sville will be okay. Matter of fact, they are a great team that just got gassed at the end. The Jacket's will be clicking on all cylinders when playoffs roll around.

Sville reminds me of Celina last year returned alot of starters, but the team never jelled. Sounds like Sville has all the talent , but the heads and desire might be missing no team can win when this is the case.

BEAST Jump balls are for basketball players, young Jaxon has a huge height advantage on the young man covering him. I would think a perfectly thrown ball would have hit him in stride where he could continue on downfield instead of having to go so high in the air to bring it down and lose his momentum. There are tons of 3A teams that SUCK. There are 5A teams that SUCK. Let's talk about the Top 5 3A's vs the Top 5 1A's... No contest.

The injury bug? Oh that is no excuse. Well it is, to rational people.

I tried to tell Sville that last year they didn't beat this year's Brownwood team. They just wouldn't listen to me! They thought I was crazy. So what did they do? They hung their hat on last year. Even after I warned them not to...and what happened? They got owned.

Brownwood represented 3A very well against a good 4A. How good is Sville, really? time will tell...

According to Dallas Houston and Coach Shipley, Stephenville was a very good 4A team, but what would they know?

Stephenville will soon be 1-4 due to their strength of schedule. This will cause some to say you beat a terrible sville team but don't be misled. They aren't there yet but they could be by years end. All I know is we've beaten every team we've played and that's our plan every game. I'm a believer in this team doing something special. The 8th star won't be given, it has to be earned.

I'm not trying to make this about Goldhthwaite and Brownwood and I'm not hating. I would appreciate you to stop accusing me of that.

Perhaps the reason most people preached that was because most Bwood fans kept saying they would have won all those games they lost last year had they "not" been injured. Remember?

I never said we would have won last night had we been completely healthy, but.....at least we only lost by one point and had the chance to tie the game. Instead we opt to go for the win and came up short on the 2 pt. conversion.

I agree with that, and on the other side of the coin just because someone doesn't feel like a certain player should be having to make certain plays doesn't mean they have no football knowledge.

by the way eagle...caught the Mason and Comfort...one of the best games i've seen i a long time...........Mason and Gold. is going to be a good one.........Mason o-line impressive...that blocking back for the punchers in tough and I was very impressed with the tb for mason a workhorse......most of all I really enjoyed the atmosphere at the Puncher Dome......great place to watch a high school game..............everything about friday nights game was what I think h.s....football is all about. .....no big time stadiums...no fake grass...paper run throughts....no jumbotrons.....parking on grass.....football players and cheerleaders in band at half........wooden bleachers...two way players and NO blow up run throughs. rows of cowboy hats along the fence..... A great experience.

oh yeah I knew that.....and I've also hit a few golf balls(not on purpose either) into the puncher dome......I was at the game with a guy that remembers before they built the other rodeo arena....that they would plow up the field and have rodeos...and then as summer was about over ...they would plant bermuda grass and water the heck out of it and have it ready for football.


Mason did a great job...team and community did well friday..considering that one of their players was diagnosed with Leukemia on Thursday....LB...#44....hopefully all will workout for this young man and his family....speaking with a gentleman at the half he explained its probably the most successful one to treat and recover from..........prayers to him, his family and teammates.
