Implementing a new running attack...guess we'll see how successful that will be after this game.

Finally got something going that last drive, but the defense can't keep containment and they're looking weak on the ends

Twitter posts:

"Chykie Brown is allergic to making plays."

"Chykie Brown is by far the most exasperating of the #longhorns. So much talent, so little production."

"Now we know why Chykie Brown isn't playing receiver. Ugh"

"Chykie Brown was thinking about his touchdown dance before the ball even got there..."

Haha gotta make plays

North Texas hanging with Clemson. Completely outplaying them with the exception of two home-run plays by Clemson.

I tell ya what..Gilbert at least in this game does not seem to have that strong of an arm to the sideline he has short hopped a few passes and struggles on getting it to the WR on deep outs

I understand Texas wants to establish the run but some of the series of playcalling is ridiculous. This isn't the MNC game where Gilbert was thrown in so there is no need to run 3 run plays in a row like that.

I agree but I wonder if there thinking has to do with their opponent being Rice

Oh I agree completely but it wouldn't surprise me to see that line of thinking...makes wonder if the coaching staff could be working the running game so hard because they may not have total confidence in Gilbert?

We will see when they get up against better competition is my guess. I know Mack and the coaching staff likes to keep it pretty vanilla against lesser opponents. One thing Gilbert does that I don't like is stare down his receiver. He has missed his tight ends and runningbacks open over the middle because of that.

Also if Tre isn't starting from here on out something is wrong. I think Tre and Fozzy should be the two runningbacks with Cody being used as a situational back.

Gilberts arm strength is there and I think he's officially settled down. He's also making more adjustments at the LOS than I've seen any QB at Texas under Mack Brown in their first start.

I like what UT is doing. however, against an opponent like Rice they need to finish drives with points. The passing game will be a big strike weapon with a power running game that they are establishing

Not seeing Landry Jones or DeMarco Murray as Heisman candidates. They would have to have 4000 yards/75% or 2000 yards respectively to overtake some of the guys out there this year.
