Delta County has Klondike, Lake Creek, and Pecan Gap. Hunt County there is the ever loving Neylandville and Cash. Neylandville does have some redeeming qualities. They sell beer there.

Toby, what's the tallest thing in No Trees?
The barbed wire fence posts, right? You have to dig a hole to find a windbreak. Aaaah yes! The Texas high plains, where men are men(and the sheep are nervous). http://bbs.3adownlow.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Opposite the theme here, you have Magnolia, a "little" town with a population of 1111, and brandishing a 5A school in the Cy-Fair football district with Tomball. Lots of folks living out in this forest!

Don't overlook Cut and Shoot, Tx. Is located on Hwy. 105 between Conroe and Cleveland. Think it is/was the home of some heavy weight boxer that didn't make it big in the ring.

Earlier SintonFan was talking about Pumpville being in the middle of nowhere, and in the same area are Dryden, Terrell Station and Pandale. Believe it or not, I've worked on radios between Pandale and Langtry MANY times.

Talking about all these small West Texas towns for some reason made me think of the team probably most devastated by realignment...Fort Hancock!!!! They dominated 6-man, won several consecutive state championships, and have disappeared since moving to 1A several years back.

No, they were playing Borden County. By the way, schools chose whether to play sixman or 11 man. They UIL puts them in 1A, and it's up to the school from there.

Toby, Another great six-man town that moved up years ago is Miles. They've never gotten very far in 11 man either. I was there when the move happened, the first year was BAD. Second year they hired a new coach, and they went 5-5. Third year they won district and lost in first round. Kids LOVED that coach. That summer he was killed in an auto accident, and they were devastated. Since then, they've never made it back to the top. They named the field for the coach, and as far as I know, it's still called "Krecje Field" after him. Gary was a good friend.

Wink, Tx...home of a good friend of mine.
Spur, Tx...where dad was born and raised, and his dad was Supt. of Schools.
I have been to Marathon,TX-, A good friend of mine, Coach Pettit, (formerly of Lake Worth) was the AD/Hd Coach/Principal/Maintenance Man/Bus Driver out there until he resigned 2 years ago.
Fisk, TX (panhandle area). Pop. of about 40.
And finally, a few miles south of Aspermont (another town I frequented where a good friend lives) lies the town of BIG STINKING CREEK, TX. The creek is fed by Sulpher Springs and runs into Salt Fork of the Brazos. Not many folks live out there, and those who do are named Jethro.
bc
A couple of these have football so I guess I should not have included them...I didn't see that these were pigskin-free towns until after I posted. Sorry!

If you get out a Texas road map, imagine a triangle formed by drawing a line from Cuero to Beeville and then to Floresville. Inside that triangle are BUNCHES of 'em.

Here's one down by Freer with a funny name, Seven Sisters. Bet there's a story behind that one. Shotgun 73, wish I could remember where I bought it.
Vet93, I've only found ONE that compares after leaving Lowake. If ever on the east end here, NW of Brenham on Hwy 36 is Somerville. Place is called "The Country Inn". VERY good and VERY large.

66,Seven Sisters is a dead town. All that remains are the signs on an old fence of all the oil, drilling and service companies that have been through and stopped back in boom days.In them days you could see drillin rigs as far as your eyes would let ya!

(to Bellville Dude)Oh, ok, don't think they are affiliated. One in Somerville is owned by a relative of a friend of mine, and I think it's the only one he has.
Just SW of Somerville is another little town, Deanville.(Back on topic)

Well, here are my entries for some small towns...

First, the smallest football playing town I ever saw a game at... Perrin; located on highway 281 south of Jacksboro.

Also in that area are Wizard Wells and Joplin. Anyone ever visited any of these metroplexes?

Enjoyed the thread,
