Looks like Case beat out Connor Wood to get the back up QB position! All in all I believe this is the fastest defense Texas has fielded since 2005. IMO overrall it will be better than that 2005 defense because of better linebacker play and deeper and more athletic front 4. The secondary has 2 projected first round picks in it.

Heard it was close, but IMO I think Case got the nod because everyone knew Connor was going to get redshirted. That way, at worst, he can get 2 years to start after Gilbert leaves, maybe 3 if Gilbert leaves early (assuming he earns the starting job after).

Am i missing something or does this not make sense? If Connor was better why wouldn't they give him the nod and red shirt Case? Dont care 1 way or the other just curious.

I believe they *Coaches * know if Gilbert goes down the Season is shot to hell anyway no matter which of the Freshman is under center ...so Wood's gets redshirted if Gilbert stays healthy and if Gilbert goes down he will backup Mccoy and have to lose his redshirt .
