I do too. Graham wants some revenge over us squeaking by last year and I dont blame them. It was a great way for us to win but had to be a crappy way to loose. Of course I am a homer and think Bwd will win, just not sure about how much.

Sounds like Graham has a pretty solid D. Granted I know MW isn't a football powerhouse, I do know that they are loaded with speed and Graham held them to 9. I don't think they'll hold us to 9, but I think we'll all know a lot more about where we are after next week.

I say we win by 21 though.

What does Graham bring to the table this year...
Balanced attack on O or more pass/run oriented?
On D what is expected?

I remember looking at Grahams roster last year and thinking they would have very little returning this season. On the other hand, The Wood has lots of talented returners, a full season and offseason with the revamped system and HC, and are on a mission. This one may get ugly pretty quick, and will, unless I'm grossly underestimating Graham.

BEAST

Might as well get it started. I think Brownwood gets rolling much better on the offensive side of the ball. We have so many weapons, its hard to pick and choose where to go with the ball.:D However, that being said, I think we roll in this one.

Graham has a lot of weapons back. They still have Ryan on d. He held his own as a sophomore when Hiser snapped his arm. Two years later. He's bigger faster stronger. And better knowledge.
On O Bynum isn't a pushover. Plus they have groves and Fulford. Still at reciever. It doesn't take a McCoy to win. I think brownwood wins in another tight one. But you are overlooking Graham a little too much.

BEAST
08-29-2010, 01:05 PM
Our guys and Coaches will not be overlooking Graham. However, I think you are underestimating Brownwoods ability to score alot of points in a lot of different ways.

LOL

Wow.. OK Let's do the math on these thought processes...Last year we beat Graham in a close one, but we dominated them until the last quarter and it took GREAT plays from McCoy to get them back in it. We did this with our 3rd string QB. All of our studs are back (18 Starters), including our starting QB. You people are smoking crap.

Did they get a new special teams coach because actually last year we only beat them because of special teams.

:iagree: :2thumbsup. However saying that, after this year Brownwood will suck as well as the Shipley era will be over (yes Bob may stay) but he doesn't have anything coming back, Coach McCoy and Coach Shipley are very smart coaches/men, McCoy built Graham up for Cases sr year so he would be remembered for that, and tried to let the next years team (this year) not return many people, which he did well. Same with Bob, He will be bringing back a Running back and A defencive back, that's it, Brownwood will be below average next year, write it down.

Will obviously be rooting for Graham, but we are going to have to show up looking a heck of alot better than we did against MW. We had way to many missed tackles in the first game. I do think that our defense has the potential to be very good this season, but just dont see how we can improve that much in a week. As for our offense, I just don't think we can put up enough points to win this one. Offensive line needs alot of work to give our QB more time, as well as opening holes for our rb's. We will have to come out on fire, or it might get ugly.

Gatesville has had success in recent past. They have a very good QB. I can see them making the playoffs again this year also. I wouldn't say these lopsided victories will happen every week, but there will be quite a few of them this year.

They had a 7-4 team last year... lost in the first round of the playoffs... I THINK they returned 12 starters this year (6 on each side of the ball).

NO ONE knows as much as the players themselves how hard they have worked this past year to prepare for this season. Gatesville is a good team and program, not air. That will be Graham!:D

Gatesville's QB is a legit QB and he had 2 good WRs. Our defense was in his face all night. Brownwood's defense did what a good defense should do. When a team passes like they do, you will give up a couple of big plays.

In pre-district they lost to Mexia, and they beat the all mighty Cameron Yoe, Fairfield, Lampasas, Waco Connally.

In district they beat Whitney, Hillsboro, and West. They lost to Glen Rose and China Spring. They only lost to China Spring 42-41.

They lost to Burnet 38-7 in the playoffs.

Brownwood rolls by 14 at the least. I agree McCoy era is over and you will never hear about Graham for years to come. They're lucky they moved out of District 5-3A or they wouldve got dead last.

Probably because 6-3A is horrible.

Sweetwater (picked last in 5-3A) would challenge for a district championship if they were in that district this season.

Funny you said that, but Early, Hamilton, Comanche, McGregor, and few other 2A teams wouldnt play us this year.

When Freeman was here I wouldn't have put it past him. He loved playing schools much larger than us. When we were 4A... small 4A.... enrollment 1,050-1,100 we were playing 5As that were over 3,000 in non-district. The question is, what 5A would agree to play a 3A just because of the risk of how embarrassing it would be if they lost.

I was told that before the realignment where we dropped from 4A to 3A we had a tentative scheduling with Lake Travis. Once we dropped though they backed out because they didn't want to play a 3A.

Funny you mentioned that too.
A couple of years ago when Goldthwaite fielded a pop warner team in Brownswood division, or what ever you call it, Goldthwaite won the Super Bowl game in that too. Beating Brownwood and all the area teams.

Actually most of the Refs from around here are from Brownwood.

Oh good, at least you have something worth mentioning about your games. The refs are from Brownwood.

How did that GVille Qb and his family feel about them Mighty Lions last week? I think we had the better QB, but I am a little biased..

I am not going to drive 5 hours to watch Goldthwaite. You have to earn that respect from me. And a $1.00 ticket to go watch Goldthwaite play is not going to be enough to get me there, sorry.

I have never paid for a ticket to watch Brownwood play...benefits of being on staff and having a dad on staff. HAHA

This will be the first year since 1984 that a Davis from my family won't be coaching at Brownwood.

The Hornets took over at their own 12-yard line and found a rhythm. Truss completed three passes to Nardi Meyers, the last of which went for 27 yards to the Brownwood 37. A 15-yard personal foul penalty allowed Gatesville to convert a third-and-8 and moved the ball to the Lion 20. Three plays later, Truss took the snap and swept left, but nothing was there. So he cut back, stepped over a would-be tackler and waltzed across the goal line to finish off the 11-play march and cut Gatesville’s deficit to 21-6. Truss finished the night 14-for-33 with 169 yards and a pair of scores through the air. Truss’ first seven completions were all to Meyers.

I couldn't find anything on Brownwood's qb, but I'm sure he had better stats with a D1 reciever.
Perhaps somebody can post them?

I do not personaly know Shipley and make no claims to know what he plans to do but if I was a betting man, I would bet on him being here at least one more year past this one so his daughter can graduate from Brownwood too and not have to move her again. The future is NOW. Also, just because McCoy bailed on your team doesn't mean Shipley will do the same. I do believe Shipley saw TONS of Jordan's games while he was at UT and he will do the same for Jaxon, no matter where he is or what he is doing. Either way, we have some great talent returning next season and Graham will get that rear end busted again...

Well that means you've been there for a while. How far is bosqueville from brownwood? Must be pretty close is that one of the "farm system" facilities. Are you a scout for the team? :D

We have voluntary farm systems. That means kids actually want to be a Brownwood Lion. Can't say the same for Graham. I would think they would move to Breck or Bridgeport before playing at Graham. Are y'all still good at basketball? Or has that even slipped..

Next year? LOL We will look at that when it happens. Either way, we are in 3A with the likes of Graham. As long as that is true, I am not afraid. On our worst year we will spank Graham. Come and get yours TONIGHT and quit talking smack about next year...

Until McCoy arrived, did y'all ever have a winning season?

You are still living in the past a 1 point excuse me win makes rocket all excited but truth be known he was scared to death win the steers came back. He didn't want any part of an overtime game.....c'mon rocket tell the truth we all know you were closing your eyes and praying when the ball was snapped. On the rest of your post we were here before brownwood so get over it.

Now don't get it wrong, we don't hate brownwood we hate rockee......

I don't think there are very many posters who truly hate Brownwood, but there are many who just enjoy pulling Lion fans
tails because they are among the most passionate and scream the loudest---especially Rocket.

Bosqueville is a suburb of Waco. Yes we still make it to all home games and 1 or 2 away. That's what Brownwood football is all about!

Rocket better find a new craphole for the next few years, after the Graham freshmen, JV and White teams completely dismantled a talentless Brownwood bunch that showed up on thursday. The good news is your varsity is good this year. Also, as soon as Shipley's kids leave you can bet his ass is gone like the wind. We learned this the hard way with McCoy.

I would be bitter if I was you too. We beat the best team you ever put on a field with a 3rd string QB and a bunch of juniors and sophs. LOL And now you are playing us this year after losing all that talent? I wouldn't trade the last season or this season for nothing. We will work out next year as it happens. Not gonna worry about it it today. ;)
