Kennedale Wildcats

District 8-3A

Coach: Richard Barrett

Last season: 11-2 (4-1 in 12-3A); lost to Pittsburg in regional semifinals.

Key players: NT Shiawo Gareth (6-0, 276); RB Bo Burgess (6-0, 170); LB Brandon Blanchard (6-0, 180); RB Tony Sabando (5-9, 170)

The big picture: The Wildcats must replace four of five offensive linemen and all four defensive backs. Still, one of the more consistent 3A schools in the area will have its usual influx of talent at the skill positions and will be at or near the top of the district once it's all said and done. Keep an eye on Burgess, an All-America hurdler who was injured for most of 2009.

Quotable: "We've got some kids that can fill in those [OL and DB] positions and play them very well. The only downside is they don't have a lot of game experience. Hey, that's what it's all about. We'll be ready come game time." -- coach Richard Barrett

"We are kind of young and a little bit low in depth, but I still think we will come out play well. We've got a bunch of hard workers on this team. I think we are going to be real good." -- RB Bo Burgess

Notable: Kennedale has made it at least two rounds deep into the playoffs for two straight years.
