Scratch that

Due to multiple community activities and fund-raisers, Midnight Madness will not be held on Friday.
The Yoemen football teams will hold morning practice that morning and then will hold intra-squad scrimmages Friday beginning at 5:30 p.m. The freshmen and JV will play first, followed by the varsity at 7 p.m.

Wimberley's scrimmage went well today. A little sloppy, but thats to be expected this early. Good speed, good hustle. Excitement is high for being so early in the season!

La Grange's Varsity scrimmage got off to a bad start. Second play, sophomore LB went out with what looked to be a pretty serious knee injury. Varsity defense looked pretty good IMO. Very quick to the ball and a few were laying the wood already. Offense had some moments. All 4 vying QB's were given their reps. Offensive line is yet to be established. WR's & RB's looked good. A few drops here and there. Wilkerson's hands are remarkable. Made a couple of outsanding catches. Looking forward to the next scrimmage, Saturday, vs. Liberty Hill.

The Soph LB that was hurt in the LG scrimmage broke his leg and his knee is real swollen. If it is only a broken bone he will be out at least 8 weeks, he is having an MRI done next week when the swelling goes down. Please send a prayer for this great young man for a speedy recovery and great news from the MRI

So true 44...we lost one of our best denfensive players from last year in the 7-on-7 tourney. He's a senior, and he is gone for the year.

I attended the Libertry Hill intrasquad scrimmage and was encouraged by what I saw. The Panthers could have a little more bite this year. A clearer picture will emerge after next weeks scrimmage at LaGrange.

Oh good! I'm glad to hear that because I thought I was just being a "MOM". :D

Is it considered an intersquad scrimmage if the 1st string Offense faces the 1st string Defense everyday?

No. Technically and INTERsquad scrimmage is between 2 different teams. Now, and INTRAsquad scrimmage could be the 1st string Offense vs. the 1st sreing defense if they meet every day in practice. INTER means between 2 or more whereas INTRA means from within. It's all in how you choose to use your prefixes.

After speaking with someone who knows this young man well, I must qualify this statement...I dont want to discourage the young man, in case he is reading this. I am told the doctors said that he was done for the year...apparently he told them no he isnt, and he will recover faster than they think and make it back late in the year. My hopes and prayers are with him...it HAS happened before, and he just might pull this one off! Good luck!

Bellville looked very very slow. Unless a big turn around is made, I can see them 1-9 or 2-8 at best.

I personally thought Bellville looked much better than expected. This group has the leadership and teamwork that was missing last year--those intangibles are worth more than talent in some cases. Give me a team with heart and I believe in them all the way! I have no illusions about winning State, but I think the Bulls are gonna surprise some folks. I have BB painted on my toes if that helps at ALL! Love ya, Brahmas! I am behind you 110% and expect you to give that same amount of heart!
