The 14-year-old Southwest Regional Babe Ruth tournament bracket was officially released earlier in the week on Monday, July 19.
The tournament will be held in Bay City at Arthur Stewart Field. It cranks up Friday, July 30, and continues until Aug. 3.
Teams will arrive on July 29 and a banquet is scheduled later in the evening at the Bay City Civic Center.
Nine teams representing their states will play in a double elimination format.
The first game starts at 11 a.m. July 30, with the East Texas State champion playing a team from South Arkansas.
Plainview from West Texas battles a representative from Louisiana at 1:30 p.m.
The East Texas runner-up plays the South Texas champion at 5 p.m. and host Bay City tangles with a Mississippi team at 7:30 p.m. Opening ceremonies will be held prior to that contest.
The winner of the Bay City-Mississippi game will play Springdale, Ark. at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The loser of the Bay City-Mississippi game will play a losers bracket game at 1:30 p.m. Two more losers bracket games will be played later in the day.
Four more games will be played on Sunday, Aug. 1.
A winners bracket game starts at 11 a.m. and two more winners play at 1:30 p.m. Losers bracket games are scheduled for 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Only three games, beginning at 1:30 p.m. will be played on Aug. 2 and the championship could be decided on Aug. 3.
The Bay City Tribune will publish the bracket once all the state tournaments are completed and the teams are finalized which should be by this weekend.
