WACO (July 18, 2010) - The defense attorney for former La Vega High School running back Christopher Dantae Parr says he`s learned that 19th District Judge Ralph Strother plans to reject a plea deal for his client today.

Parr`s Attorney, Buck Harris of Killeen, said his office notified him of the planned move on Friday.

Parr pleaded guilty in May to a charge of burglary of a habitation.

The 19-year-old is a former standout running back at La Vega High School.

A plea deal struck by the McLennan County District Attorney`s office was seeking five years deferred probation on the charge.

At the time, District Judge Ralph Strother ordered a pre-sentence investigation in the case, saying he would not impose the sentence until after he had studied the report.

Strother confirmed his plan to reject the plea deal. Strother said once he does, Parr will have the option to withdraw his guilty plea. Strother said prosecutors and Parr`s attorney could try and reach a new deal.

Parr was arrested in January 2009 at school in connection with an apartment burglary in the 800 block of Rambler in Waco in which shoes, jewelry, electronics and a pistol were taken

In 2008, Parr was charged last in connection with the armed hold-up of Lonnie Sawyer, 19, who told police he was robbed around 10:40 p.m. on Aug. 23, 2008 in the 5200 block of Concord Road in Bellmead.

In November 2008 the McLennan County District Attorney`s Office said the criminal complaint against Parr was dropped after the teenager passed a polygraph test.

He was arrested in March 2009 on a retaliation charge in an incident that occurred while he was free on $25,000 bond after he was charged with injury to a child in an attack on a 14-year-old boy.

Parr did not play during the regular season in 2008, but did take the field in four playoff games including La Vega`s state title game loss to Prosper.

Who failed in raising this kid in his youth? He is now an adult and is responsible for his actions, but this goes back to his mid teens, apparently.
