Well, I thought long and hard about the job offer to move to Shreveport, and I have decided it is the best thing for my family. So......it'll be bye bye to Navasota for now.:(

That doesn't mean I won't keep following the Rattlers and trying to make a couple of games here and there, but it does mean that I am going to have to rip myself out of my comfort zone and move to a big city. Who knows, I may end up being a Carthage follower in the process, too!

Sorry to see you go. Hopefully you'll make your way back here to Texas.:)

Thanks. I really dont want to leave Texas, but it is a no-brainer as far as the natural gas industry goes. Six figures and home every night, or five and a life in the Comfort Suites in Jewett, TX? Anyhow, I am sure I will adapt just fine.

Shreveport/Bossier is my home away from home. Just watch where you go at night, it is real easy to end up in the "wrong part of town".

You can really catch some big ET games. Longview-Marshall, Gilmer-Carthage, Texas High-Arkansas High and many others.

Good luck!

Congratulations on the new job. I moved a great number of times for the money and enjoyed different places, but Texas has always been home. You'll get back some day and be better for the experience.

I will be getting a real estate escort from the company's relocation contractor to take me around. If they aren't open toward my ideas about staying on this side of the border, I will probably do like I am now: look for myself.

Housing availability around Carthage is next to nothing due to oilfield boom. Good luck.

Got new apts. going up in my front door. Right acrooss the street from Longview/Spring Hill School,,,,,15 minutes to Gilmer School.......45 minutes to Bossier. 20 minutes to Marshall. Marshall not the best location...if you know whay I mean.
Go closer to Shreveport or closer to Longview. Hallsville is the best choice school and community wise and just a little way from Marshall. Marshall schools have lot of trouble..have friend that taught there. BAD

My neice, her husband and my 2 nephews all do natural gas land work.

Not a Lobo and you know it. I bleed blue...Spring Hill Panther blue. Have nothing against Marshall folks but the school has a lot of violence. My friend had an alarm attached to her teacher desk and a sercutiy officer in the hall...never farther than 100 yards away. She had more than one student pull a knife in class.

Don't need that going on anywhere and accordimg to her it's an almost everydayn thing.

How you doing LE? I know you are just busting for F'ball.:D

Amen to that.

If your headed West ...I'm telling you look at Hallsville. Great school system and nice community. Athletic program good also.
Actually it's the nicest place close to Shreveport on the Texas side.

If I had children and had to leave SH that's where I would go if possible

You may also consider Atlanta (you could be Rabbitcanmaster), Queen City (outstanding band program) or if you are concerned about academics Bloomburg. They are all about 30 mins from S'port
