My wife has been transfered to Burnet for her job and I would like to know if it would be worth moving to. We have two kids in school.

Not sure about Burnet itself, but you are 15 minutes away from Inks Lake which is one of the nicer lakes and Buchanan. Plus you are in the hill country which you can never go wrong with.

And it's burn-it durnit!!

well, being a burnet native i would have to say yes it is a good place to live. but keep in mind i grew up there and never had to pay any living expenses on my own, hehe. i don't think the cost is high as compared to some places and it's still a pretty smallish town in terms of homey feel. my parents still live down there and my sister will be a senior next year, and they have no complaints. just my opinion though

And don't by into the hype of Storms. It's overrated :D

Just bail on the wife the first night and go to Pardners which is out past Inks Lake.

I always liked Burnet....so I would say its a great place to live. School system is good so so is the community. Also doesn't hurt to be in the hill country, near marble falls, and Inks lake.

I like their HEB.
Their stadium visitor side is quite smallish.
They do serve really good burgers at the football games. All the fixins!

Burnet is cool. We have had some good times around there.

Burnet is a great place to live. You will need to travel
for Medical care above"general practice". The school is great!
However, Georgetown is on Hwy 29 and it's a great place to visit, fish
shop. I really enjoyed living on Lake Buchanan for over 10 years.:)

I think Burnet has a hospital now. It's called Seton Highland Lakes Hospital.

Of course that's true. They have a general surgeon, however if you need
real medical expertise, your off to Austin.:(

I have been there a couple times to watch the nieces and nephews play as Wimberley traveled there. It seems as nice of a place as any in the Hill Country!

I wasn't sure what all that hospital could do. I thought it was fairly new.

Unfortunately that is a common thing in the smaller communities around the country.

Burnet won't meet your retail needs, but Marble Falls is only 13 miles away and has most everything else you need including loads of national eating establishments.. (Chiles, KFC, Long John Silvers, Sloskies [sp] and it has Home Depot, Lowes, Tractor Supply and Walmart). Burnet has a real laid back mood while Marble Falls feels bigger than it really is.

It is my current Goal in Life to retire and buy a house on Inks Lake....

Burnet is a great little town, in my opinion...and I'm from Lampasas originally...normally would hate anyone from Burnet.

Buy the house to the right of us. They are crazy environmentalist people and have a big ugly tank that collects rain water and have no hot daughters or hot women in their family period.

Burnet is a nice little town...to many of the "lunatic fringe" are moving in from Austin. That is the price you pay for living in the hill country.:D
