I have heard that Abilene Wylie turned in 1500 plus enrolement. I understand they do not have to count some of the students becasue of the military base, because they never know when they might lose students due to parents moving. Can someone please clarify how this works or is it just a rumor.:)

maybe if you could spell enrollment correctly we might take your ignorance a little more seriously. Dont repeat stuff you heard at Dairy Queen until you research the veracity (thats truthfulness) of such claims.

The military kids are all counted as well. That's why it's called "snapshot day." The UIL does not take an average daily attendance they take the actuall number of kids enrolled in classes at Wylie HS on that one particular day. The day that they request this is kept highly confidential and none of the schools know what day they will ask for this information. Whether or not there are military kids enrolled does not matter to the UIL, if you have 60 military kids on snapshot day and then the very next day 50 of them withdraw the 60 turned in count against you. The good thing is it can work in your favor just as easily as it can work against you. West Texas schools suffer from this because of all the migrant workers that come and go but typically do not participate in extra curriculars.

Snapshot day is what put Copereas Cove in 4A for two years. I am not sure it is the best way to measure enrollment but I sure cant think of a better way

Singshot! That's how many seniors we graduated this year!:D

Dang! Those burgers we ate in Austin where good!!!! :)

All kidding aside, you would be surprised how many kids that live in Wylie go to school at AISD and other surrounding schools. A few years back we had over 300 students attending school at AISD (this was reported in the Abilene Report News). The students go to AISD because AISD has more AP Classes, ROTC, etc..... than Wylie. I also know many parents that will not move to Wylie because they want their sons to play football in 5A.:)

According to the May 28, 2010 Abilere Reporter news “The Wylie High Class of 2010 listed 228 graduates.” 1500 seems a bit high.

The newspaper reported Brownwood had 161.

... and the Churches of Christ are usually notorious for over estimating their enrollment numbers ...

The graduating class is USUALLY, but not always the smallest of the classes in a high school. So even assuming the classes are all equal in size, a conservative estimate would be 228 X 4 = 1012 students. Sure does look fishy, I guess maybe their lower classes are actually smaller than their graduating class.

I know the year I graduated from Brownwood we had 226 graduate. Enrollment was around 1,050 I believe. The sad part is when we were freshmen we had 350 something students and enrollment was closer to 1,100. I graduated in '02 and there hasn't been a larger class graduate since then. The class of '03 had 207 I believe. It has dwindled since then.

228 X 4 = 912, even in Brownwood.

Fishy? Check your math -- 228 X 4 = 912 students. Wylie reported 940

I heard that kids in the Breckenridge/Graham area whose parents have IQ's less than 60 and/or have ever had relations with a goat/sheep don't count in the enrollment figures. Any truth to this or is it a baaaaaaad rumor?

1500? Is that why we have two consession stands? If that's true, we more people should be at the games. If that's true, and all we can do is get to the semi's and the big game without a bunch of titles, then we need to work a little harder.

This years Sr class at Brownwood was an anomaly. It was quite small with 161 being pretty close to correct. Most classes in Brownwood are between 200-225.

Beast, I thought that the 2003 class was the last over 200? I asked someone from the '03 class and they said their class graduated 207.

And skinsforlife, I was actually in the top 3%, not top 10%. If you'd like to know more, I even placed out of math all the way through Calculus in college, and earned academic scholarships that paid for nearly all my tuition. That's why I said if any of you knew me you'd think it was pretty funny that I made that mistake. It was a little math mistake get over it. The way some of you type on here is a disgrace to the English language. I guess I could start insulting everyone who makes a typo.

Thats not it, she was from Abeline, lived out near the Wylie district.... She was desperate to move out of that nasty area, even desperate enough to marry ugly ole me. As soon as she got her Brownwood citizen ship, she was gone.

Thinking about finding me a desperate Sweetwater or Snyder woman next time.

Yeah, I don't know what was worse. Having pink endzones or
paying 10K for a gawd awful paint job. :(
