Download the free version, the only difference is when you purchase it is runs live and blocks stuff like norton "does" but this programs free version is MUCH better than any norton product I have ever used.

Download it update it and run a full system scan. If it doesnt pick up anything..if your computer allows you to restart, restart it and press F8 while it is starting up and choose start up safemode with networking. Download the program and update it and run a full system scan ;)

Ugh its so frustrating, I just went and bought one, but it still isn't letting me open anything at all. It keeps saying cannot execute file.....is infected! And like literally 20 minutes before my friend said her computer just got a virus as well

Just do a system restore to a previous date. Or turn the computer off and restart it in safe mode. If you can get it to start in safe mode, try to install your product. If you can't, save all of your files to an external hard drive and put in your system restore disk and reformat your hard drive, install a fresh copy of Windows and then your antivirus software that you purchased and your files. And after you do all of that, stop looking at Internet porn.

Is that the same as Bit Defender? That's a piece of crap! I've got it on my laptop and it's constantly crapping out, which slows everything down. :speech:

Believe it or not, Microsoft Security Essentials isn't bad and it's free! Combine it with another product like AVG, etc and you're doing pretty good. Not all products catch everything so running multiple programs is usually needed.

save the file (malwarebytes) to a usb storage device on the computer with internet access and then take the usb device plug it into the other computer while in safemode with networking and run it

that could work - but do the exact opposite with your internet access....

viruses/spyware today are programmed to go back out to the internet and re-download/install themselves when they realize they are being deleted...

doing anything while your computer is still connected to the internet is pointless...


they only GOOD way to completely rid your computer of any/all remnants of any kind of infected files is to do a clean install of windows xp - whether it is from a windows cd or from factory recovery cds, that is the only sure fire way to get rid of it...
yeah, thats a pain in the ass, but reinstalling windows occasionally isn't going to hurt, its like getting the oil changed in your car, except its for your computer...

If nothing works i would recommend you do a COMPLETE system restore before buying a new computer. If you do this you will restore everything on the computer back to its original setting. We had a laptop that was just about dead and decided to do this and it ran perfectly after completed. Normally you have to press a certain combination of keys of startup depending on what brand and model of computer you have.

Some computers may require you to have the CD's(if you got them when you bought the computer) but otherwise it should work.

I'm no computer geek, but I was having some major problems a year or two back. Our IT guy downloaded "Spybot - Search and Destroy" from a flashdrive he had onto my computer. Once I ran it through its paces, everything began to work great and my computer began running much faster. I try to run it about twice a month now.
About a month ago, I downloaded "RegCur", which cleans up all registry errors. It found plenty (not really sure what a registry error is but...), and my computer began to preform much better all the way around. Now I will run it everytime after running Spybot. I also delete all history, temp internet files, and cookies before I run those programs. I dont know which one is doing the most, or if its just a good combination of all of them. But I sure like the way my computer works after running them. By the way Spybot is free but RegCur is not. I found Spybot on the internet and downloaded it on my daughters computer about a year ago, because she was having some problems. Spybot cleared up all her problems, and everything ran like a champ afterwards. Heck its free, you might as well check it out. It sure works well for me.

I've had my PC for over four years now and the only time I had any problems with it was when I had 2 gigs of space left on my hard drive. I reformatted the hard drive and kept only what I needed. Still works fine.

I ran a free version of Windows 7 for a year and it ran great. But after the trial ran out I switched back to XP because I didn't feel like buying Windows 7.

Got my Mac 3 years ago for a birthday present (it will be 4 in 3 days) and have NEVER had 1 virus, or the slightest hint of a problem and I have Limewire that I installed the 1st day I got it. I know this is cliche but it's true, it still runs as fast as it did when I pulled it out of the box. Macs are a bit costly but DEFINITELY worth the price.

The problem is not BBDE, even though I disagree with him. The problem is that society is changing faster than us older folks are dying.

The line between right and wrong has been moving left for many many years and there are just too many of us baby boomers left for people like BBDE.
