now with just ten teams and the BIG 10 already taken, what should the new conference be called?

I think they should do away with the numbers in conference names. The SEC, ACC, Big East, Mountain West, etc. have the right idea. You can have as many members as you want and never have to worry about what to call it.

Honestly, it's not like the BigXII is losing much power. Been many moons since Colorado has been a power, and Nebraska, while competitive, is light years away from where they once were.

but last week people were saying the sec which arkansas and lsu belonged to had low academic standards......and idk will they fit into the culture of the big 12-2? last week Texas had a culture more suitable for joining the PAC 10.....so would we want to add them....plus these are two teams that would be talented enough to play with and beat the horns. Last week the SEC wasn't a good choice for the horns.....why start bring them into the big 12-2

and we would have to check their tier 1 status.

Why would Arkansas be a good fit? VERY small market, not outstanding academic credentials and tail-end charlie in football.

how do you figure an athletic power joins the strongest athletic conference in nation and it wouldn't be a good fit?

TCU and Houston would be nice for fans and athletes. Gotta love all the instate games. TCU has to be tired of going undefeated and not getting much BCS love.

TCU yes, but Houston does not have stellar academics nor is much of an athletic power. They do have a new athletic facility though. Might even be able to play a few in the new Reliant Stadium too. Not known for playing by the rules either.

Thank you! That TCU v Boise State game last year looked quite a lot like a random Kansas v Missouri game from the last couple of years.

The commish announced the conference would stick with the current 10. He also said if they add more, they will go out of state to get them.

Well I was referring to their conference schedule but I guess context isn't enough for some.

You realize that the BCS put TCU against Boise to cover their ass right? Imagine if TCU had upset one of the big boys in 1 bowl, and Boise knock of another of the big boys in another bowl. BCS couldnt have that.

I agree.
Honestly after watching TCU/Boise game I wasn't sure if I had watched two evenly matched heavyweights or two equally mediocre teams. The defenses looked like they may be able to play with some of the elite.

That was the point of pitting them against each other. No way to lose for the BCS. You either say they didnt look good, or you say they both looked good. But in the end, we will never know.

U of Arkansas Razorbacks is all the ENTIRE state of Arkansas (and quite a few on the Texas border) care about. They have no pro teams, no other major universities, just the Hogs. The football team has come back to being Nationally ranked (should be top 5 this year) baseball, and track are both solid.
Tail end Charlie?? Did you see what they did to A&M? Bobby Patrino has this program clicking and if they were back in with Texas schools it would grow even stronger.

Academically, I totally agree with you. A degree from UofA is not worth much unless you are going to work for Jerry Jones. :D

Top 5? Or top twenty-5?

Also, Bobby Petrino has 2 yrs left, at most. Thinking he'll stay any longer than that is completely ludicrous.

Yeah, I was pretty ticked when they gave the matchups and showed TCU vs Boise. I was hoping for TCU-Florida and Boise-Cinci or vice versa. BCS covered their @$$ in this case though.

2008present Arkansas I think with what Arkie has coming back this should be a good year. Petrino probably will leave next 2-4 yrs, but Gus Malzan (sp) current OC at Auburn, who got his college career started at Arkansas, is already rumored to be waiting in the wings.
