Smithville just lost another brave young man. Mario Rodriguez Jr was recently taken from us in his service to our country over in afghansistan. prayers for the Rodriguez family are asked please. The small town that i am proud to call home is devastated, this being the 3rd soldier lost just this year. He was a former football player, linebacker number 44, varsity 01-04. He was a former Downlower as well. I had the honor of playing with him for those years and he was the greatest leader I have ever this was during our stretch of not winning many games if any. but he always kept us pushing thru the bad stretch, and when the outcome was not in our favor always kept us playing hard for 4 quarters when it was easy to shut it down. He played a huge roll on the young kids that have turned this thing around in smithville by showing them to work hard and never give up. "Tigers at ease" number 44.
