The 1A and 3A state championship baseball games were both held Thursday at 2pm. Both games had attendance between 1,000 and 2,000. Its a miracle that that many were able to attend. Why not play the games when fans can actually get there? Of course football has a larger fan base and generates more revenue because the games are played when people can watch. Since UIL is going to single site football championships, maybe they will start playing the 3a football finals at 2 on a thurs, but im doubting it.

thats how the semi finals are in basketball and the attendance is much better....the state baseball tournament is not set up near as well as the state basketball tournament though

arent all the basketball tournament games played at the same place? Baseball used to have "championship Friday" where all the games were at UT one after another. Now, they play 2 champ. games at the same time. Makes it impossible to see them all and thus splits attendance. If they want to do this they need to skip the "tournament" label and split each classification up. (They will never do this because of lack of resources) Play at Dell, Texas State, Wolf stadium, Baylor Ballpark and one other central venue. Each year rotate where each classification plays. They can play semis on Fri and Champ. on Sat. The semis can be 5 and 8 so that some people can make them. Play championship 2 pm Sat. More people would show but the UIL doesnt care. They dont care about baseball, never have, never will.
