Heard the board TIED 3-3 on the decision for a new coach. An assisstant from Vernon and a head coach from either Portales or Clovis. Interesting scenario.

The only possible saving grace is if all members had been present, the remaining 3 could have changed their vote to make it unamimous. That does happen on occasion. But no way Id take a HC job knowing that 40% of the board didn't support me.

Yeah, you're dead on.
Taking a job where half the board voted against you doesn't give you a great vote of confidence.
I would hope the board and administration know this is a rebuilding job. (Football wise)

Vernon is loaded with talent, they just need the right guy in there to get things headed in the right direction. I would love to take over Vernon, just not with 3 votes against you.

That's kind of what I was going to get at. Vernon is a place where you are loaded with talent. But, you have to have the guy that's going to have discipline in the system to make them work hared and play hard.

You cant have some hard ass come in either and turn those kids against him. You need a guy who is going to be fair and consistent with those kids. If somebody could stay at that job for a decent amount of time and install his values throughout the program Vernon would be a top 10 team year in and year out.
