Texas pitcher Cole Green answered a lot of doubters on Saturday night.

His name is Cole Green, and he's back.

Well, the Longhorn hurler never left. But after back-to-back shaky outings, Longhorn fans were anxious to see how the junior would pitch with everything on the line in post-season play. The result was a brilliant performance, and his team needed it. For Texas, the top of the lineup struggled mightily, but the Longhorns (48-11) were still had enough as . Longhorn skipper Augie Garrido said it best, "It was pitching, defense, and timely hitting with power that separated the two teams and there wasn't much separation." I couldn't have said it better myself.

A couple of timely solo shots and the duo of Green and Chance Ruffin led the Horns past the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns (38-21) by a 4-2 score. Against Ruffin, the Ragin' Cajuns couldn't get over the hump to tie up the game. As a result, the Longhorns now find themselves in the power position, and will face tomorrow afternoon's Rice versus Louisiana winner in the Regional championship at 6:30 p.m.

Texas took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Kevin Keyes led off the inning with a hard single to left, and he swiped second base. A grounder to the right side allowed Keyes to move to third, and he scored on a Kevin Lusson RBI single to right-center.
