Yep. For most folks, if there isn't a Triple Crown on the line, the Belmont is a non-event.

If you don't have a horse in the event or your not running that day its a non-event unless there is something at stake IE the Triple Crown. Aside from the Kentucky Derby the only races that get national attention not due to the triple crown are the Breeders Cup(Where really all the best horses are for thoroughbreds) and The All-American(quarter horse equivalent of the breeders cup).
