Giddings has outscored its playoff opponents 43-4 in its 5 games.

ironically, team is also at 43 homeruns for the year.

When Buffs are finished with the season, I will attempt to get my hands on some stats and post them. It is pretty amazing for a 3a team. Hope they can keep it all going for a few more days.

Packing the cooler and headed to Concordia.

Go Buffs

I misheard the score in my previous post (as I said, poor audio).

Giddings up 2-1, top of the 7th, Giddings due up.

Giddings 2 runs, 1 hit, 5 lob.
Boerne 1 run, 3 hits, 5 lob.

That's if I heard correctly!

Just got back from the game! There was no water! No consession, no bathrooms (unless you walked to deep center field), no electricity (except for a generator for the broadcast team).

But a pretty field!

Nope! No scoreboard!

The fans had to keep up with everything. I got there 10 minutes late and thought we were the home team till the top of the 3rd.

Thank goodness the home plate ump was clear about balls and strikes and signalled the count a lot.

Im really thinking that this situation (no scoreboard, terrible amenities) would not happen in a regional final football game. The ADs would not let that happen.

I am curious what is the history behind this slogan? I saw a lot of shirts with that slogan when we played last week and never got around to asking anyone about it.

Pitch by Pitch...still

I'll attempt this. "Pitch by Pitch" was Coach Marlow's slogan from last year, a very good yr where the Buffs ended the season as State runner ups. Head Coach has a very sarcastic side probably caused from sitting all those years on that bucket....;)but at beginning of this season, "Mikey" had do some coaching on a player and the veteran group yelled "pitch by pitch" for emphasis and then Coach Marlow replied "still". In other words, how many times do I have to tell you????? this also added some other slogans for this team including "What Mikey said". With Coach Marlow's two sons on the team, he has been a huge part of all these kid's baseball lives and there is truly an unbelievable bond between them and every family of every kid on the field.

The shirt is very interesting on the back & worth the time to read it was our tribute to this team who we have watched play baseball since they were in Tball together. We actually passed a piece of paper around the stands during one of our last district games and asked all the parents, grandparents and fans to write down what they heard everybody telling these kids, some of what was written went all the way back to something funny that happened when they were just beginning to play (HmmmmBabee, is one of them) I took all that was written, added each players nickname and we had the back of our shirt. Thanks to Visual Promotions of Sealy TX for working so hard and understanding how important all of those "words" were for our guys.

Another thing that many have asked me about....All the ropes that all the fans are holding are our support for "hitting a rope". It also is a good stress reliever when we really need a hit, a strike or an out. I cut up and hand out about 200 feet of clothesline every game.

and the donkey...............well, a couple of summers ago, Brooks Marlow hit a shot over a 400 foot CF wall at Texas Tech. During summer ball, there's not exactly very many people watching. So as Brook's trotted across home plate, the other "Mikey" my husband yelled out "That was a donkey shot".

After you read the back of the shirt, You will understand it doesn't take much to get something started with this group.

:inlove:

So proud of your effort. Keep it going

I just think its soooo coool to be a dad/coach and to be able to get your boys (and their teammates) this far 2 years in a row. What a dream come true!

People, if you remember, key players opted out of football to focus on this baseball season. Many, including me, questioned how they would feel at football games being in the stands rather than being stars on the team. I'm sure it was tough. Well, this baseball season is the reason. I can certainly understand their love of baseball and preferring not to get tore up playing football. I respect their decisions and I'm certain their knees, ankles, elbows and shoulders do too!

I know they will give it their all, pitch by pitch....still

GO BUFFS!!!

And I'd like to thank the local and regional rivals for their support both here and at the games. I for one, appreciate it. It shows the respect this team has earned.

(still wish Trey would've opted to play for the maroon guys)hehe
