I went to Guatemala on a mission trip back in 1997. It was my first experience with such widespread poverty. Disasters like this could wreak havoc on an already very shaky country.

I read somewhere that this was actually a pic from a sinkhole that happened in 2007. CNN posted it and it got around to other news outlets.
