In no particular order right now--but by the end of the year the top 5 will likely include:

Brownwood, Celina, Gilmer, Carthage, and Cuero.

Could hear alot from Sealy, Liberty Hill, Lovejoy, Abilene Wylie, and my surprise team for this year is Silsbee.

I just don't see all the hype about Carthage. They lost 4 of 5 offensive linemen and a hell of a senior class.

I just think they will. Celina has some good players coming back and up off the jv. Celina strong points should be in the oline and dline they have some big boys up front. The qb has a great arm although Celina is not a passing team, but I would say he should throw any where between 1200 to 2000 yards depending on how much they let him pass and thats alot of yards passing for Celina. The running game should be solid with a much improved oline. The defense should be really stout with good speed at linebackers and in the secondary. Overall depth looks alot better than last season.

Only 2 4A drops that I am hearinabout are Henderson and Mineral Wells. Henderson is supposed to be good. They are returning a large # of players including a QB who is supposed to be solid. Mineral Wells is supposed to be super quick and may make some noise in Reg 1.

Sealy is losing quite a few seniors. However, the new realignment will more than likely give them a district championship.

The only competition for Sealy in district is Brookshire. Falcons benefit from movins and transfers; Katy tigers are due east and sealy tigers due west. This could be Brookshires year.

I'm not quite drinking the green kool-aid just yet . We lost our Leader in Arndt + a few key players . Coach Reeve deciding to leave will hurt Cuero in the first part of the season . I can see us ranked anywhere from 8-15 but will climb as the season progresses . The kids will have to adjust to a new Coaching style and it may take a couple of games to get our bearings . What we do have are 2 all-state players leading the way in Jackson and Hoffman a very good young line along with most of our defense . We need to settle on a QB and whoever it is will do just fine with our RB and WR's returning .

Probably would have been easier to get a list of teams that are not going to be in the top 5 and then "process of elimination" the results.

Here is one team that is not going to be top 5.

Celina

Based on what?

Their absence from the State Championship last season?

Do you know what is coming back and/or how this team compares to those of the past?

Or do you just not like Celina or the color orange?

Fair enough...

So their absence last year indicates that even though they have compiled a 3A record of 71-13 in the 6 years they have been in the classification and played in the championship implying finishing in the top 5 in 50% of those seasons says to you that this year that they will not be a top 5 team?

You say that you generally know what they have coming back. Did you know that they have arguably the strongest AND fastest team in the schools history? Of the dozen or so off-season records that they have tracked over the past 10 years there are 3 new strength or speed records that these players have broken. 19 players bench over 300 lbs, 3 over 400. 3 players Power Clean over 270 lbs. The slowest defensive player runs a 4.9 40 with 2 D-Lineman that run sub 4.6's. But a Top 5 finish is out of the question?

If it is nothing against Celina and you like Orange as a color, why is it that Celina has no chance of breaking the Top 5 this season?

Is it poor coaching, lack of discipline, no town support, just don't like football?

Like any school, Celina must earn a top 5 spot. I see them as a possible #10 to start the season. #10 to 15 would be good. But the Bobcats made it to the state game three times in the past five years and picked up two more state titles and they were not top 5 those times either. Two of those games came when Celina was not even in the top 10. Optimism runs high in Orange town.

I would personally be shocked to see Celina start in the top 5... actually I'd be shocked to see them start in the top 10. But due to realignment and the uil blessing us with the most awful district in the state, I agree with OM in that they will move up quickly. Hey OM do they have our schedule up anywhere yet?

Let's see if I have this right.

2006 - Celina vs. Liberty Hill in 3A State Championship - Loses a game they probably shouldn't have.
2007 - Celina vs. China Spring in 3A State Championship - Celina wins with a superhuman effort.
2008 - Celina vs. Carthage in 3A State Championship - Celina salvaged a decent regular season with superhuman effort in the playoffs and loses a track meet.
2009 - Celina has a very mediocre regular season and an unimpressive playoff loss.

2009 was a pretty big fall off to recover from. I don't care if I am wrong, but what superhumans did Celina pick-up this season?

Not a hard rule but it is difficult to be considered part of the top 5 if you don't make it into one of the 4 championship team slots. IMO

I would not predict Celina to rebound to championship game this season. So, Celina will not finish in the top 5.

I have heard that this could be the best oline Celina has had. The oline will be big with an avg of 6'2 and around 260lbs. All the olinemen are benching over 300 and squating over 400lbs. The runningbacks should be much improved from last year. Qb Jacob Stephenson has looked great in 7 on 7.

The dline is big strong and fast I believe two of the dtackles are benching around 400. The linebackers should be really good with Keller Adams coming back for his senior year.Josh Raulerson at middle linebacker is gonna be fun to watch he will be a sophmore. He gets to the ball and can hit and he is a great leader. He
wraps up good and doesn't miss many tackles. Secondary should be good but I don't know who will be where there. From what I've been told this is the strongest and biggest team Celina has had.

As for 4A drop downs...Mineral Wells could make some noise in 3A Region I. They gave 4A 2009 State Champ Aledo all they could handle this past season and the return both RB's & the QB. I hear they also have 3 lineman over 325. A reciever that was 110 meter State Qualifier. They also were District 6-4A Track Champions this year. Lots of speed and they lineup in a ton of different formations.

And about hot links.........try Doc's Hot Links in Gilmer. They AIN'T Pittsburg hot links. He has been making them himself since before Pittsburg hot links were ever known. It's been there since the '50s, and is plenty good!
